🌿 New Week, New Opportunities to Protect Our Forests 🌿

As we step into this new week, FORUDEF renews its commitment to protecting our forests, empowering rural communities, and promoting sustainable livelihoods.

Our forests are more than just trees — they are sources of food, medicine, income, culture, and life for our communities. This week, we encourage everyone to take small but meaningful actions:

• Plant a tree
• Avoid bush burning
• Support non-timber forest products
• Educate someone about environmental protection
• Promote sustainable farming practices

When we protect the forest, we protect our future. Together, we can build a greener, healthier, and more sustainable community.

Let this week be productive, impactful, and environmentally conscious.

🌍🐘 Happy World Wildlife Day from FORUDEF! 🌿🦍

Today, we celebrate the beauty of our forests, the richness of our wildlife, and the strength of our communities who protect them every day.

From elephants and gorillas to birds, pangolins, and the countless species that call our forests home; wildlife is part of our identity, our culture, and our survival. Our forests provide food, medicine, water, income, and hope for future generations.

At FORUDEF, we believe that conservation begins with people. Through community forestry, sustainable harvesting of NTFPs, and empowerment of women and youth, we are working hand in hand with local communities to protect biodiversity while improving livelihoods.

🌱 Protect the forest.
🐾 Protect wildlife.
👩🏾‍🌾 Empower communities.
🌍 Secure our future.

On this World Wildlife Day, let us all commit to safeguarding our natural heritage, because when wildlife thrives, communities thrive too.

At Food and Rural Development Foundation (FORUDEF), we believe that empowering communities with the right skills can unlock sustainable livelihoods and transform local economies.

Through our targeted capacity-building programs in the Akwaya Subdivision and Mamfe Subdivision of the Manyu Division, FORUDEF trained local bee farmers on modern and sustainable apiculture techniques. The training focused on hive construction and management, colony care, improved harvesting methods, quality control, packaging, and market access.

What started as a community livelihood support initiative has today blossomed into a growing local enterprise, ERK Enterprise.

ERK Enterprise was born out of the skills, confidence, and entrepreneurial spirit strengthened through FORUDEF’s intervention. Today, the enterprise is actively promoting and selling high-quality honey and related products, contributing to:

🍯 Increased household incomes
🍯 Value addition to local forest resources
🍯 Youth and women economic empowerment
🍯 Sustainable forest conservation through alternative livelihoods

By supporting bee farmers, we are not only improving livelihoods but also promoting environmental sustainability, as beekeeping encourages forest protection and biodiversity conservation.

FORUDEF remains committed to strengthening value chains, supporting local enterprises, and ensuring that community-based initiatives translate into real economic opportunities.

From training to transformation, this is the impact of partnership, empowerment, and purpose.

A Big Milestone for BANOTIFOPCOOP! 🌿✨

Members of Bakossi National Park Non-Timber Forest Products Cooperative have successfully completed a powerful training workshop on Branding and Packaging of Non-Timber Forest Products, organized by Foundation for Rural Development (FORUDEF).

This activity was made possible thanks to funding from World Wide Fund for Nature Cameroon under the LtC 2 Project.

For years, forest products like bush mango, njansang, bush pepper and honey were sold in raw or bulk form. Today, things have changed!

Members learned:
🌱 How to create strong product brands
📦 How to package products attractively and professionally
🏷 How to label according to standards
💼 How to position their products for better markets

The result? The official rebranding of BANOTIFOPCOOP!

The cooperative now has a renewed identity and improved packaging that reflects quality, sustainability, and pride from communities around Bakossi National Park.

This is more than packaging it is empowerment.
It is conservation linked to income.
It is communities taking ownership of their forest wealth.

Thank you WWF Cameroon for supporting this transformative journey!

In the heart of the emerald hills of Bakossi National Park,
Where mist kisses the canopy at dawn,
And rivers whisper secrets to ancient stones,
The forest breathes @ # , generous, enduring.

Here, beneath towering trees and woven vines,
Communities rise with the rhythm of the land
Guardians of tradition, keepers of seeds,
Children of abundance, yet seekers of opportunity.

The forest is more than timber and trails;
It is bush mango and njansang,
Bush pepper warming village kitchens,
Eru vines curling with quiet promise,
Honey dripping gold from sacred groves.

These are the gifts untold
Non-Timber Forest Products,
Treasures once gathered in silence,
Sold for little, valued for less,
Though rich with medicine, flavor, and future.

But hope walked in with steady steps
Food and Rural Development Foundation,
FORUDEF a voice for the voiceless forest communities,
A bridge between tradition and transformation.

They listened to the elders.
They trained the youth.
They gathered the women beneath mango trees
And spoke of value addition, of packaging, of power.

“Your forest is wealth,” they said.
“Your knowledge is strength.”

From vision to action,
From scattered harvests to shared purpose,
Rose a movement rooted in unity

Bakossi National Park Non-Timber Forest Products Cooperative
BANOTIFOPCOOP.

The first of its kind in the Park’s embrace,
A cooperative born of courage and collective will.
Where harvesters became shareholders,
Where gatherers became entrepreneurs,
Where the forest’s gifts found fairer markets.

Now, bush mango is weighed with dignity.
Njansang is processed with pride.
Bush pepper travels beyond village paths
Carrying stories of resilience.

And the forest?
It stands taller
Not exploited, but respected.
Not stripped, but sustained.

For when communities see value in conservation,
Protection becomes purpose.
Livelihood becomes stewardship.

🌿 **Empowering Women, Strengthening Communities!** 💚

Through the LEADING the CHANGE, FORUDEF in partnership with WWF Cameroon, continues to turn commitment into action within the South West Cluster of the Bakossi National Park (BNP).

As part of our efforts to promote sustainable livelihoods and reduce pressure on forest resources, women in the community were supported with essential processing equipment to boost their Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs) activities and small-scale enterprises.

This support is more than just equipment; it is an investment in:
✅ Women’s economic empowerment
✅ Sustainable income generation
✅ Conservation of the Bakossi landscape
✅ Stronger, self-reliant community groups

When women are equipped with the right tools and knowledge, they lead change in their households and across the entire community. Together, we are building resilient livelihoods while protecting our forests for future generations. 🌍🌱

We extend our sincere appreciation to WWF Cameroon for their partnership and continuous support in driving community-led conservation and development.

FORUDEF Engages in the Inception Workshop and Signing of the Together for People and Planet (ToPP) Project MoU at DK hotel 18-23 Jan 2026

FORUDEF participates in the inception workshop and official signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) under the ToPP Project, alongside key Civil Society Organizations, including WWF. FORUDEF MoU was signed by the BOD ChairMan Johnson Enowtaku. This milestone marks the start of a strengthened collaboration aimed at promoting transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance in the forest and environmental sectors.

The workshop focused on presenting the objectives and implementation framework of the ToPP Project, with particular emphasis on compliance requirements and PMEL (Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning) systems. These elements are critical to ensuring results-driven implementation, effective reporting, and continuous learning throughout the project cycle.
The event was graced by the presence of the WWF Country Director and the South West Regional Delegate of MINFOF, highlighting the importance of multi-stakeholder partnerships between civil society and public institutions in advancing sustainable forest governance.

FORUDEF remains committed to actively contributing to the ToPP Project and advocating for transparent, participatory, and sustainable management of natural resources.
