In line with efforts to strengthen the economic resilience of Cameroonian youth and amplify their voices, Lead Child Africa participated in a strategic engagement focused on employment and inclusive growth.

On April 7, 2026, the organization was represented by Momo Collins Bakari at the Jobs for the Poor (J4P) Workshop held in Yaoundé. The event, organized by the Ministry of Economy and Town Planning in partnership with the World Bank, brought together key stakeholders committed to tackling unemployment and economic vulnerability especially among young people.

The workshop aimed to present the work of the International Forum on the Jobs for the Poor (J4P) Programme and finalize the National Coalition’s Action Plan. It convened actors from the public and private sectors, alongside development partners, to co-create solutions that drive sustainable employment.

The J4P initiative focuses on:
• Promoting inclusive development so no group is left behind
• Strengthening entrepreneurship and capacity building for youth
• Providing coaching and mentorship for career and business growth
• Developing and implementing evidence-based solutions
• Encouraging knowledge sharing and continuous learning
• Ensuring measurable impact in job creation efforts
• Supporting sustainable national initiatives
• Scaling programs that empower youth to thrive—not just survive

Lead Child Africa’s participation underscores its commitment to advancing youth-centered economic policies and sustainable employment solutions in Cameroon. By contributing to dialogue and action planning, the organization continues to play a vital role in shaping initiatives that empower young people and strengthen national development.

By now we should already know that at Lead Child Africa, we believe that the seeds of a peaceful tomorrow must be sown in the classrooms of today.

Therefore following our previous post on connecting with schools to implement our Building bridges project in partnership with Hope Charity organization and Partners association we are happy to announce the successful conclusion of our recent training for educators in Buea.
During our session, we have equipped a dedicated group of teachers to serve as facilitators for school-based Peace Clubs.

These educators aren’t just teaching, they are becoming mentors who will guide students in:
Constructive Dialogue, where they’ll Learn to speak and listen with empathy.
Conflict Resolution where they’ll learn to find peaceful solutions to everyday challenges.
and in Leadership where the students will be empowered as the next generation of ambassadors for peace.

This will be Implemented under the Cameroun Project of the Goethe-Institut by the office of the German government,
this initiative is a vital step toward strengthening social cohesion and nurturing a culture of tolerance within our communities. By empowering young people to become peace ambassadors, we are building a more resilient and unified future for Cameroon.

Together, we are bridging divides and re-connecting people.

In celebration of International Women’s Month 2026 under the theme “Rights, Justice, Action: Empowering the Girl Child for a Brighter Future,” we joined Gracious Gifters Foundation , Hope In Pink Foundation, and other partners for a outreach at Rhema Grace Orphanage, Ombe, Southwest Region on 28th March 2026.

This visit was not just about giving items it was about sharing knowledge, building confidence, and empowering the girls with the right information to navigate their world safely and boldly. Highlights included:
• Rights, Justice & Action Workshop Interactive learning on girls’ rights, confidence, and gender equality in conflict-affected contexts.
• SGBV Awareness & Reporting: Educating the girls on recognizing, preventing, and reporting sexual and gender-based violence.
• Vision Board Creation & Journaling: Encouraging reflection, goal-setting, and dreaming big for their futures.

The day ended with laughter, learning, and a sense of empowerment. We believe that equipping girls with knowledge and confidence is just as important as giving material support because empowered girls today are the leaders of tomorrow.

What began as a training quickly became a heartfelt space for sharing experiences, laughter, and learning.

Mothers discussed challenges, celebrated small victories, and explored practical ways to guide their children with love, patience, and understanding. From effective communication to setting boundaries with care, the session highlighted the importance of positive parenting: nurturing children’s emotional well-being, building their confidence, and fostering healthy relationships that last a lifetime.

Seeing the dedication of these women to create safe and supportive environments for their children was truly inspiring.
This is astrong reminder that

Thank you SUDAHSER for organizing the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) training.

This training has enhanced our capacity to ensure accountability, prevent abuse, and create safe spaces for children and youth. Participants deepened their understanding of how abuse of power, trust, and vulnerability can lead to exploitation, and learned practical strategies to:
• Recognize warning signs of abuse
• Uphold respect, consent, and protection for vulnerable groups
• Speak up, report cases, and support survivors without blame or stigma
• Reinforce prevention as a shared responsibility across individuals, organizations, and communities

Together, we are committed to building safer spaces where dignity, respect, and accountability are upheld.

On the 30th of March 2026 we organized webinar which was a powerful reminder that sustainable development starts with intentional action, community strength, and empowering women and girls at every level.

Some key insights that stood out:

Building sustainable income sources is essential. Every skill we have is a potential stream of income when developed with purpose and direction. Financial independence is not accidental, it is built.

We were reminded that Empowering women must go beyond conversations. Women need the knowledge and tools to understand, manage, and grow their finances confidently. Preparation is key opportunities come, but only those ready can fully take advantage of them. This also means rejecting self-doubt and refusing to speak down on our own potential.

Njangi groups are more than social gatherings. They are powerful financial tools that, when used deliberately, can create stability, investment opportunities, and collective growth.

Another critical point was the importance of giving. By sharing accurate information and making services accessible especially around SRHR we strengthen communities and expand impact.

There is a direct link between women’s health and economic empowerment. When women are healthy, they are more productive, more engaged, and better positioned to thrive financially.

We also emphasized that freedom from violence is foundational. Keeping girls safe ensures they stay in school, grow confidently, and contribute meaningfully to society. Safe communities are not optional they are necessary for development.

The conversation on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) challenged us deeply:
• GBV does not discriminate it can affect anyone.
• Communities must move from silence to action.
• Systems may fail, but we must find ways to activate them and hold them accountable.
• Bold strategies like anonymous reporting systems in schools and communities can create safer spaces.
• Accountability must be visible—perpetrators should not be protected by silence or stigma.

Above all, one message was clear:
"when we support each other, we all thrive."

This is a call to action not just to reflect, but to start movements, build systems that work, and create environments where women and girls can truly flourish.

What happens when we truly listen to students?

Before our next school engagement, we are sharing key insights from our recent film-based session with 90 students and the results are both encouraging and deeply concerning.

While 94% of students demonstrated awareness of sexual abuse, the data reveals a more complex reality:
- 1 in 10 students reported having experienced sexual abuse
- Over 75% have seen or heard of harassment within their environment
- More than half are unaware of school policies or available support systems
- Only 32% feel able to discuss these issues within their families
- Over 55% lack confidence in how schools handle such cases

These findings highlight a critical gap between awareness and action. Students may understand the issue, but many still lack safe spaces, trusted systems, and supportive environments to speak up.

Through our film-based approach at Lead Child Africa, we are working to bridge this gap, using storytelling to spark dialogue, challenge silence, and build safer, more responsive school communities.

As we prepare for our next school, we invite educators, parents, community leaders, and partners to join this conversation and be part of the solution.

Protecting children is a shared responsibility and it starts with listening, acting, and creating spaces where every child feels safe and heard.

Join us. Partner with us. Speak with us.

Because protecting children is not a project…
It is a responsibility we all share.

In commemoration of International Women’s Day and Month 2026, we are proud to launch our Outreach at Rhema Grace Orphanage, Ombe Mutengene.

Did you know: empowering women and girls is not just a moral obligation, it is a strategic investment in our shared future!!

When women are empowered through education, economic opportunities, access to healthcare, and leadership, the impact is far-reaching reduced poverty, stronger families, resilient communities, and inclusive national growth.

Yet, despite growing global attention to gender equality, many women and girls continue to face barriers that limit their full participation in society. From school dropouts caused by early marriage, teenage pregnancy, and poverty, to limited access to economic opportunities and leadership spaces these challenges persist. Gender-based violence and limited awareness of sexual and reproductive health rights further threaten the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of many.

This is why Lead Child Africa is convening a Webinar on March 30th, 2026 via Google Meet to create a space for meaningful dialogue, shared learning, and collective action.

What to Expect
This interactive session will bring together students, educators, community leaders, civil society actors, and policymakers to explore practical strategies for empowering women and girls.

Key Discussion Areas
• Women’s Economic Empowerment
• Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights
• Ending Gender-Based Violence in Schools and Communities
• Women in Leadership and Decision-Making

We’ll soon be introducing our speakers and highlighting the impactful work they are doing in advancing gender equality and empowering communities stay tuned!
