The South West Youths Association focuses on three strands of work;

• Youth Education
• Youth Empowerment and
• Youth Advocacy

How we do this,

T

he South West Youth Association (SWEYA) advances education, promote culture, preach peace, unity and national integration and relieves unemployment for every young Cameroonian. Together with our partners, we work to translate this commitment into practical action, focusing special effort to reaching the most vulnerable and excluded young people, to the benefit of all the youths, and of the south west region in particular. With a history spanning very short but a network reaching over 300,000 young people, we’re proud to be a leading youth association committed to building patriotism, providing civic education and moral attitudes and other high quality services for young people. Our services are delivered through a network of locally accessible youth organizations across the south west region and the country. Together we offer support, advices and training to equip young people with vital life skills and engage them in education, volunteering and employment.

“Our world is changing. The world is becoming more divided, where some countries flourish with opportunities, and others remain sparse with the lack of education. We are constantly finding new ways in brightening the futures of today’s youth, of the most disadvantaged young people in our country. We want every young person to have the same start in life, with a good education and have the framework to provide high standard opportunities to advance in life. We thus join voices to say Back to School to our young ones in the South West and North West Regions of Cameroon”. NGOE Fritzen AKPO,
National President, South West Youth Association (SWEYA)

Our Vision:

All young people are empowered to build bright futures, whatever their background or circumstances. Who we reach:

We work primarily with the south west youths, young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, from a wide range of religious and cultural environments, family settings, academic ability levels and geographic locations across the south west region in particular and Cameroon in general. How we reach them:

The young people we work with are encouraged and supported to get involved with SWEYA voluntarily. They typically find out about us through their friends and family, the local youth organizations in our network, the SWEYA staff team, or via referral partners (including schools, social services, the police, the municipal councils, and other local service providers). Our values:

To deliver our vision, we need a strong sense of who we are and what we stand for. At the heart of all our work are these three core values:

Value 1 - We work with young people on their terms
Value 2 - We are committed to working in partnership
Value 3 - We advocate on behalf of young people and the sector

Mission Statement:

SWEYA supports young people, encourages patriotism, promote culture through the advancement of education, relief of unemployment, and to allow the growth of a young generation of new leaders. SWEYA is building a moral young people that will bring about a peaceful, non-violent and responsible Cameroonians who will accompany the country to emergence by 2035. SWEYA mobilizes support and resources to help local communities, particularly those of rural council areas, ensure an “education for all” and to build their capacity to form appropriate policies and deliver services for young people which will be maintained for future generations. SWEYA is committed to ensuring all young people have the right to work, and earn a living and not live in poverty due to the lack of opportunities given to them. SWEYA, in everything it’s involved with, the most disadvantaged youth and the localities in greatest need to education and opportunity takes priority, always. Our mission:

To provide access to appropriate, high quality services for young people in every community. Our goals:

To achieve our mission we have set three core goals:

 Young people can access support, advice & training in their various communities.
