Etow clan is found in Upper Menka, Widikum Sub-division, Momo Division, Northwest Region of Cameroon. The clan comprised 5 villages viz. Akanunku, Atong, Anjing, Emua and Ekoh. Akanunku is the hub of the clan and it houses Government Secondary School, Akanunku-Menka, SAR/SM Menka, Government School Akanunku, Government Nursery School Uphill Akanunku, The Integrated Health Centre Akanunku, the Presbyterian Parish Seat Akanunku, and the Akanunku Market. In Anjing, we have the Government School Anjing and Government Nursery School Anjing, in Emua we have Government School Emua, Government Nursery School Emua and an Integrated Health Centre, Emua and in Ekoh, we have the Presbyterian School Ekoh, Ekoh Parish Seat and Ekoh Market.
The clan is ruled by 5 traditional fondoms having the same culture and tradition. The people are industrious and hospitable. The main cash crops in the area are coffee, cocoa, and palm oil. The food crops include sweet potatoes, coco yams, plantains, banana, soya beans, beans, yams, cassava, egusi, pumpkin njangsa and vegetables such as huckleberry (njama njama), green, water leaf, bitter leaf. The people rear livestock and birds such as goats, sheep, pigs, cattle, dogs, cats, horse, donkeys, and fowls. They tap palm wine from raffia, palm tree, and date palm.
The clan is bounded in the south by Wandoh and Ambelle clans, in the west by Kissam people in Akwaya subdivision, in the east by Ngie, north by the Ngwo people. The people lack a political representative in government. The youths have taken upon themselves by creating an association dubbed, Etow Youths Cultural and Development Association (EYOCUDA) which is a nonprofit organization, apolitical in nature in order to change the narratives.
We are making strong appeal from international donors and sisters organization to come and support us with financial aids so that we can be able to impact some developmental projects in our communities like pipe borne water, community halls, give didactic materials to our kids, build palaces, erect touristic sites, install solar energy etc.
