I, Dr. Njofie Isaac discovered one of the best qualities of vegetables in the Buea central market last week. This vegetable with many holes on it shows that the level of toxicity has gone so low that insects feed on it to survive. This is the best for human consumption. Avoid such fresh and smooth vegetables that insects don't feed on. Once they land on them, they sense chemicals and fly away.

Moral lesson: insects feed on less or zero toxic vegetable

It is all about food security. Do you know that you can store tomatoes by drying them in the sun? The advantage is that fertilizer and other chemicals used to cultivate them will be drained as the tomatoes dry off. When dried you can grind and preserve in power form or you just preserve them and measure any quantity any time you want to cook, soak in water for few minutes and blend it. Join Rural Farmers Support Network to promote food security and sustainable agriculture.

Dr. Njofie Isaac (founder of RFSN) was a guest at Crtv radio today Saturday 23 August, 2025 to talk about the various communication breakdown in rural agriculture that pose great threats to the mastery and application of agric input chemicals by rural Farmers in Cameroon. He equally elaborated on its impacts on output and human health, and above all, proposed some solutions and recommendations to the Cameroon government for better dissemination of information to farmers. It is a great privilege for the national station to always invite Rural Farmers Support Network to share insightful knowledge that enhances the promotion of food security and sustainable agriculture.

Yesterday 29 July 2025, Rural Farmers Support Network launched the second wave of planting season with M'muock rural Farmers cooperative members (their working group). It was also an occasion to handle some of the challenges that these farmers face under modules like:
1) The right and proper application of herbicides,
2) The depth explanation on systemic and contact fungicide, how, and when to apply each or both
3) Decoding of different formulae and abbreviations on fertilizers and why, when and how to apply each type of fertilizer; also depending on the climatic conditions and geographical locations.
3) How the Nitrogen of a farm is determined and how it equally determines the kind of fertilizers to be applied on crops.
4) How fertilizers can be properly applied as starters and finishers so as to boot output and avoid crop poisoning.
5) Issues were equally discussed on the geographical rotation of Irish potato seed so as to improve its performance and results.
6) Some chemicals were identified as being so harmful to the soil, environment, crop and human health. So, Farmers were advised to stop using such chemicals.
7) The seminar ended with the distribution of solid hoes to farmers to enable them till the soil well for a better planting season.
