🥲✨ We started right at home, in our own classroom.

Nevgo recently launched the Opportunities Awareness Program, an initiative created to help students discover opportunities, prepare strong applications, and position themselves for success.

For our very first session, we were privileged to host Fonyi, Fortune, and Raisa of Team Unstoppable Gems, winners of the 1st Prize at the Africa Science Week 2026 Hackathon in partnership with AIMS Cameroon. They shared their inspiring journey, challenges, lessons learned, and practical tips on how young people can take advantage of opportunities around them.

Students were also introduced to several exciting opportunities, including:
🎓 Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program
🌍 African Union Digital & Innovation Fellowship
💼 World Bank Group Pioneers Internship
🚀 Orange Social Venture Prize (POESAM)

One message stood out throughout the session:

💡 Opportunities are not meant for a particular group of people.
💡 They are meant for those who are informed, prepared, and willing to apply.

This is just the beginning. Through this program, Nevgo aims to reach more classrooms, faculties, and schools, empowering students with the information and guidance they need to unlock their full potential.

🚨 A student cannot become a scientist by memorizing formulas alone.

Many schools in Cameroon still face challenges accessing well-equipped science laboratories. This means thousands of learners study Physics, Chemistry, and Biology without regularly performing experiments.

Imagine learning about:
🧪 Chemical reactions without mixing chemicals
🔬 Cells without using a microscope
⚡ Electricity without building a circuit

Science is meant to be experienced.

If we want more engineers, doctors, innovators, and researchers, we must give students the tools to explore, experiment, and discover.

Where You’re Born Shouldn’t Decide Your Access to Education

Did you know? 🇨🇲

In Cameroon’s North Region, school attendance remains among the lowest in the country.

Studies estimate:
📚 Primary school enrollment is around 70%
📉 Overall school attendance is about 55.4%

Behind these numbers are thousands of young people whose access to education remains limited by poverty, infrastructure, and unequal opportunities.

At Nevgo, we believe education should not depend on geography.

Understanding these realities is essential if we truly want to improve education in Cameroon.

Cameroon has more than 14,000 public nursery and primary schools according to recent national education statistics.

But beyond the numbers, an important question remains:
How many of these schools have access to quality learning conditions, practical tools, laboratories, or digital resources?

At Nevgo, we believe understanding education is the first step toward improving it.

While we cannot organize field activities every day, we remain committed to raising awareness by sharing educational research, insights, and realities about the state of education in Cameroon.

Because meaningful impact begins with understanding the problem.
