On 9th May, we had an engaging discussion on Dash Radio FM 89.6 on the topic “Menstrual Hygiene and Management.” 💗

We debunked common myths surrounding menstruation, emphasizing that periods are a natural biological process not a taboo. The discussion also covered proper menstrual hygiene practices, nutrition, rest, managing menstrual cramps, and the importance of seeking medical attention when necessary.

We also raised awareness on Polycystic O***y Syndrome (PCOS), its symptoms, and the need for early diagnosis and care. Importantly, we encouraged boys and men to be supportive and help break menstrual stigma.

Together, we continue to promote menstrual health awareness, dignity, and confidence for girls and women in our communities.

This May, we’re on a mission to break the silence.

Access to menstrual products, education, and safe spaces is not a luxury, it is a fundamental human right. Yet for countless girls in our communities, period poverty remains a major barrier to education, health, and dignity.

To mark Menstrual Hygiene Month, Lead Child Africa is rolling out a month-long campaign to educate, empower, and elevate girls across the region. We are dedicated to creating a world where no girl is limited by her period.

Mark Your Calendar: Our MHM 2026 Schedule

Tune in and show your support for our advocates on the front lines:

- May 9: Radio Talk with Dash Media
- May 12: Talk Show appearance on Royal TV
- May 14: Radio Talk at CBS Radio
- May 19: School Visit & Pad Bank Donation (direct community outreach)
- May 28: Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) Workshop

This work is only possible through strong partnerships. We are grateful to work alongside Children Educational and Empowerment Association Cameroon, Hope In Pink Foundation , Gracious Gifters Foundation , Centre for Youth and Family Empowerment , Just Now Action - JUNA and and Bokwe Foundation.

Let’s unite to ensure that menstrual health is a priority for all.

OUR “HerFlow” Initiative

Through the HerFlow Initiative, in partnership with Lead Child Africa , we are supporting girls with menstrual hygiene kits and creating pad banks in schools so no girl misses class because of her period.

We invite donors to support through financial or in-kind contributions. A donation of 5,000 FCFA provides one dignity kit, while sanitary pads and hygiene products are also welcomed. Your support will help reduce period poverty among adulescent girls

We raise our voices to say NO to r**e and NO to all forms of sexual violence.
Silence protects abusers, but speaking up protects lives. Together, we stand for dignity, safety, and justice for every woman, girl, and child.

Let’s break the silence. Let’s end the violence.

As part of our awareness campaign, we conducted a sensitization talk yesterday with Class Six pupils on preventing sexual exploitation and abuse

engaged Class Six pupils in an interactive talk on sexual exploitation and abuse. The session focused on helping learners understand:

-Safe and unsafe touch,
-Recognizing warning signs,
-And the importance of speaking up.

Pupils were encouraged to report any uncomfortable situation to a trusted adult.
Together, we are empowering children with knowledge to stay safe and protect themselves.

She was told to keep quiet.
She was told no one would believe her.
She was told it was her fault.

And so, she cried in silence.

Sexual exploitation and abuse continue to destroy the lives of children and young people in our communities. It happens in homes, schools, neighborhoods, and even places meant to protect them. Fear, shame, and threats keep many victims from speaking out.

This campaign is about breaking that silence. We are reaching markets, schools, and churches to educate communities, empower children, and encourage reporting. When children understand boundaries, when adults recognize warning signs, and when communities take action abuse can be prevented.

Let us stand together to protect every child.
Speak up. Listen. Act. Protect.

Silence is not protection. Awareness saves lives.
