🌉 BUILDING BRIDGES, RECONNECTING PEOPLE – PROJECT SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED! 🕊️

What happens when you bring divided communities together through young people? Peace happens.
We are proud to announce the successful completion of our 6-month peacebuilding project “Building Bridges and Reconnecting People” under the Connected Cameroon Program funded by the Goethe-Institut Kamerun.

Implemented by a powerful consortium:
🤝 Good Hope Charity Organization (GHCO) Lead Child Africa– Lead South West. Green Partner Association NWR (project Lead)

OUR IMPACT IN NUMBERS:
✅ 20 Peace Clubs created and mentored in secondary schools
✅ 10 Schools in South West showcased talents on Oct 9th, 2026 in Buea – 189 students.
✅ 10 Schools in North West showcased on Oct 14th, 2026 – 206 beneficiaries.
✅ Total: 395+ young peace mediators trained

For six months, we mentored students in:
- Non-violent communication & Peace Mediation
- Inter-faith and inter-cultural dialogue
- Talent for Peace – using drama, poetry, music and debate to preach peace
- Reconnecting Anglophone and Francophone youth divided by crisis

On the final demonstration days in Buea and Bamenda, students did not just speak about peace – they PERFORMED peace. From moving dramas on GBV and child marriage, to poems on living together, to mediation role-plays – these young people proved that the future of Cameroon is not conflict, but connection.

The South West event hosted 10 schools with 189 students in Buea. The North West event followed on Oct 14th with 206 beneficiaries. Together, we built bridges where walls existed.

🌸 INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL CHILD | GHCO in Action🌸

In Boana Bojongo, being a girl should not be a risk.

To mark the International Day of the Girl Child (Oct 11), Good Hope Charity Organization GHCO in partnership with Hope and Care for Women and Children took to the communities — from IDP quarters to schools.

We sensitized over [150+] women and girls on issues that silence them:

✅ Early Child Marriage — A girl is not a bride. She is a leader.
✅ GBV & Femicide — Breaking the silence from insult to killing.
✅ Menstrual Health & Hygiene — Periods are normal, not shame. No girl should miss school because of it.
✅ Girls' Rights to Education and Dignity

The stories we heard were painful but powerful. A 15-year-old IDP girl told us: _"I thought bleeding meant I was cursed."_ Today she knows her body, her rights, and her worth.

We shared dignity kits, held open dialogue with mothers, fathers, faith leaders and boys — because protecting girls is everyone's duty.

Our message is clear: Educate a Girl, Secure Buea. When girls thrive, our community thrives.

Thank you to our partner Hope and Care for Women and Children and our volunteers who did their all for the community.

Together, we say NO to child marriage. NO to GBV. YES to girls' education and dignity.

WORLD DAY OF PEACE | 21 September 2026
PEACE IS NOT JUST A DREAM, IT IS OUR DAILY WORK.
As a Peace Ambassador and member of Good Hope Charity Organization (GHCO), I believe peace begins with a simple encounter - listening to the other, respecting our differences, and serving together.

In Buea, in the South West Region, and across Cameroon, GHCO is championing peacebuilding in communities through Inter-Religious Dialogue, Youth Engagement, and Humanitarian Action, inspired by the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi: _"Lord, make me an instrument of your peace."_
Inspired by our Inter-Religious Peacebuilding Conference in Abuja, we return with renewed commitment:
To heal wounds, to unite what has fallen apart, and to bring home those who have lost their way.
Let's choose dialogue over hate, fraternity over division, and forgiveness over revenge.

Peace is possible. Peace begins with you and me.

END OF MODULE 1
Day six, and module one comes full circle.

Elder Mrs Justina Mike Ngwobia, Executive Director of the Justice, Peace & Reconciliation Movement, closed out this module with a session on how interreligious dialogue actually works in practice, not just as an idea, but as a framework fellows can carry into real communities, real tensions, real conversations that matter.

It felt fitting that the module, built on faith, history, and conflict, would end with a session on how to talk to one another across the lines that divide us.

But the day isn't over yet. After today's class, fellows sit for the exam that marks the end of module one, a chance to show just how much has sharpened in them over these six days.

Six days of hard questions. Now it's time to prove what stayed.

Day one of the 2026/2027 Cardinal Onaiyekan Foundation for Peace fellowship is officially underway.

The fellows arrived yesterday, but today marked the true start of learning, with sessions led by Sheikh Nurudeem Muhammad Lemu, OON, Director of Research/Training at the Dawah Institute of Nigeria, alongside a continuing session on the history and ethics of religious conflict and its lessons for peacebuilding today.

Across both sessions, the fellows have been engaging deeply with questions of belief, conscience, and the responsibility that comes with faith, exploring how different religious traditions have historically grappled with the line between conviction and conflict, and what that means for interfaith dialogue in Nigeria today.

The day continues this evening with a Welcome/Opening Dinner, bringing fellows and facilitators together in a warm, informal setting to build the relationships that will carry them through the weeks ahead.

Cardinal Onaiyekan's vision for peace continues to take shape, one fellow, one conversation, one shared meal at a time.

WORLD HUMANITARIAN DAY

Today marks World Humanitarian Day 2026—a moment to honor the extraordinary courage of humanitarian workers and volunteers around the globe.

From providing emergency relief in conflict zones to building long-term resilience in communities affected by climate change, these dedicated individuals embody the best of humanity.
Yet, serving others has become more dangerous than ever. Attacks on aid workers, blocked relief convoys, and severe funding shortages continue to threaten life-saving operations worldwide.

Humanitarian workers stand up for people in need. It’s time we stand up for them.

Protecting civilians, respecting international humanitarian law, and ensuring safe access for aid delivered to vulnerable communities is not optional—it’s an urgent global duty.

Let’s move beyond words and advocate for those on the front lines.

Strengthening Humanitarian Response in Cameroon!

🌍🤝Good Hope Charity Organization was proud to participate in the North West and South West Cluster Transition to Sector Coordination workshop, held right here in Buea from August 12th–13th, 2026.

This transition marks a vital step forward in how NGOs and partners collaborate. By moving from clusters to sector coordination, we are streamlining our efforts to ensure aid reaches those who need it most, faster and more efficiently. Our team is fully committed to implementing these strategic shifts across our ongoing projects. Together with our partners, we are building a more coordinated, resilient, and impactful humanitarian response.

At Good Hope Charity Organization (GHCO), we believe that creating safe, respectful, and empowered communities starts with awareness and action.

As part of our commitment to preventing and responding to Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment (SEAH), GHCO recently held a community awareness session during the Nwangri Youth Meeting in Bakweri Town, Buea! 🤝✨

What was the goal?

🧠 Educate: Deepen community understanding of SEAH and its impact.

🛡️ Protect: Promote safe, healthy, and respectful behaviors across all age groups.

🗣️ Empower: Encourage members to speak up, report concerns safely, and stand in solidarity with survivors.

By engaging young people and representatives from various surrounding neighborhoods, this session sparked vital conversations that attendees can now take back to their families and local networks.

Together, we can ensure zero tolerance for exploitation and abuse. Let's build a safer community for everyone! 💪💙
