Rivers, streams and wetlands act as natural filters. They trap pollutants and store the water that communities and farms rely on. When these ecosystems are degraded or polluted, that service is lost.
GrEEN has commitments to restore and conserve inland waters to support Sustainable Development Goal 6 on clean water and sanitation for all.

Voice of the Mountain: Restoring Mount Bamboutos

Today, we are tuning in with an urgent mission, a vision of hope, and a massive call to action for our local communities.
For decades, Mount Bamboutos has given us life our water, our rich soils, and our heritage. But severe degradation, soil erosion, and deforestation have put our landscape at risk. That is why the Green Landscape Association is taking a bold step forward. We are leading a major initiative to secure the ecological restoration of 2,333 hectares of highly degraded land across the Mount Bamboutos ecosystem!. This isn't just about planting anywhere, it's about protecting the vital zones that sustain our communities. Our targeted restoration covers five critical areas:
• Watersheds & Riparian Forests: Securing clean water sources and protecting riverbanks from collapse.
• Forest Reserves & Community Forests: Rebuilding natural habitats and empowering local land management.
• Sacred Forests: Preserving our cultural heritage and biodiversity hotspots.
And how are we doing it? By planting at least 1,000,000 trees across the mountain landscape! Every single seedling planted helps stabilize slopes, bring back natural springs, and rebuild local livelihoods. An initiative of this size requires all hands on deck. Farmers, youth leaders, traditional authorities, and local council members, this landscape belongs to all of us.

The International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer is celebrated every year on September 16 to raise awareness about protecting Earth's natural sunscreen.
What is the Ozone Layer?
The ozone layer is a fragile shield of gas in the stratosphere. It absorbs most of the sun's harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Without it, excessive UV rays would cause high rates of skin cancer, cataracts, and severe damage to crops and marine ecosystems.

The world is set to cross 1.5°C of warming, likely within the next few years. But how far we go beyond 1.5°C, and how long we stay there, matters.

This World Environment Day, it’s not just about awareness. It’s about action.

At GrEEN, we believe the environment doesn’t need more promises. It needs hands in the soil, voices in the room, and communities willing to change habits that hurt the planet.

This year, we’re planting 50000 trees in Mount Bamboutos, organizing beach clean-ups, running workshops on waste segregation in local schools.

Small steps add up. One cleaned street becomes a safer playground. One planted tree becomes shade for the next generation.

Food security means that all people have access to enough safe and nutritious food at all times. It is an important part of human health, economic growth, and national development. When people have reliable food supplies, they can live healthy and productive lives.

Several factors affect food security. Climate change, drought, floods, poverty, and conflicts can reduce food production and make food expensive. In many developing countries, poor farming methods and lack of storage facilities also lead to food shortages. As the world population continues to grow, the demand for food increases rapidly.

To improve food security, governments and communities must support agriculture by providing farmers with modern tools, quality seeds, fertilizers, and proper training. Irrigation systems, good roads, and storage facilities can help reduce food waste and increase production. In addition, educating people about nutrition and sustainable farming practices is essential.
