The fourth and fifth days of the just ended Gender-Based Violence Information Management System (GBVIMS) Data Experts Training at Marcsons Hotels and Resorts focused on strengthening participants’ practical competencies in GBV data management, administrative documentation, data mapping, and information sharing protocols.
Day Four emphasized the practical recording of administrative information within GBVIMS. Participants received hands-on guidance on creating Incident IDs, generating Survivor Codes, recording report dates, and preparing monthly statistical reports. The practical sessions, facilitated by GBVIMS Specialist, Sir Kathel enhanced participants’ understanding of safe, confidential, and standardized documentation procedures essential for survivor-centered case management.
The final day centered on data mapping and organizational data management flows. Participating organizations presented their internal data flow systems, including Bless Foundation’s referral and reporting pathway from community-based counselors through the M&E unit to case management structures and executive oversight when necessary.
Sessions also explored Information Sharing Protocols (ISP), focusing on data security, ethical information sharing, confidentiality measures, protocol breaches, and practical application scenarios. The training concluded with closing remarks encouraging stronger collaboration between GBV actors and regional authorities to improve coordinated survivor response services across Cameroon.
The five-day workshop has significantly strengthened the technical capacity of participants and reinforced ethical, confidential, and survivor-centered approaches to GBV data management and reporting.
