THE ROTTEN CHICK

A Short Moral Story.

A little boy was running around their garden, kicking a ball. As he kept chasing the ball, a baby chick suddenly left it's mother and ran under his foot and he stepped on it. The chick died immediately.

Upon seeing what had happened, the boy began to scream and cry loudly; he was in a state of shock. While he was screeming, the sound of his voice drew the attention of his mother who rushed to his aid.

When the mother asked what the problem was, the boy pointed at the dead chick and cried, panicking.
"I killed it! I stepped on the poor chick! I hurt it so much! The mother hen is going to look for her child! I'm a bad person!"

His mother quickly consoled him and told him it was merely an accident. However, the boy wouldn't stop wailing and hating himself. He was filled with so much guilt and remorse for what he had done.

Again, the mother said to him,
"Don't worry, we all make mistakes, so forget about it and move on. You have to forgive yourself."

No matter how much the mother tried to calm her son down, she could not stop him from being devastated. It seemed he would never be able to forgive himself as he cried even more, thus making her very confused about what to do.

The confused mother thought for a moment, and then she said to the little boy,
"Okay... I'll tell you what you can do to bring the dead chick back to life. Get a small box and place some sand or sawdust on the bottom of it. Then put the dead chick in the box and cover it. Wherever you go, take the box along with you. At least once a day, apologize to the chick, telling it you're very sorry for killing it. Then after about three days, it will wake up and you will take it back to it's mother."

The boy suddenly stopped crying, picked up the dead chick and went to do what his mother had told him. For hours and hours, he kept the box close beside him, apologizing to the dead chick.

However, three days later, the boy noticed a strong odour coming from the box. When he opened it, he was surprised to see that the dead chick was rotten and decaying. He ran to his mother and exclaimed,
"It smells, it smells! The chick smells horrible! I can barely breathe around it!"

The mother paused for a moment, then placed an arm around the boy's shoulder and whispered into his ears,

"Listen, son, the day you accidentally killed the chick, I told you to forgive yourself and let go, but you would not. So, I decided to make you carry the chick around with you until it begins to rot and smell bad. In this life, nobody's perfect. We make mistakes. We say wrong things. We do wrong things. We learn, we grow and we move on! But if we don't forgive ourselves, the guilt feeling becomes a heavy burden and will bring disturbance in our life. If we all dwell on our mistakes and carry it around with us, it will smell like a rotten chick and will make us feel very uncomfortable. We'd all be miserable, and life is about being happy. It is important to know that when we forgive ourselves, we are giving ourselves the gift of freedom. We are free from the chains of our past and we can live happy and fulfilling lives."

THE LOST EMERALD

A Story With A Valuable Lesson.

A king lost his royal emerald which he had kept for over twenty years. He searched everywhere, but couldn't find it. Unknown to him, one of his maids named Linda had stolen it. She had sneaked into the king's bedroom the last night and got the emerald and hid it under her dress.

At once, the king summoned his three maids; Linda, Agatha and Delia to his presence. He accused them of stealing his emerald and demanded to know who among them stole it. He Looked at them gravely, one by one, then he said to Linda,

"I can't find my emerald in my room and everywhere. One of you stole it. Was it you?"

Linda opened her eyes in surprise, shook her head, and then said very convincingly,
"No, it wasn't me, Your Majesty... Lately, I've been busy doing things for the queen and I haven't come around your chamber."

The king then looked at Agatha and asked the same question. She responded calmly and quietly,
"I'm sorry, Your Majesty, but I have no idea what happened to your emerald. That's the whole truth."

Lastly, the king darted a look at Delia, asking her the same question. However, Dalia suddenly burst out crying and defending herself.

"Your Majesty, I'm not the thief, I swear I'm not. I've been a loyal maid to you, I would never think of doing such a thing. The queen said I'm the most honest among all the maids, she could trust me with her life. Everyone says I'm trustworthy. Please, don't punish me! I don't want to be locked up in prison. I don't want to lose my job, I've got a family to feed! You have to believe me, I'm not lying. Believe me, I'm innocent! Please!"

At that point, the king became suspicious of Dalia's behaviour and declared her to be the thief. He angrily ordered his guards to chain her up and take her to prison. Dalia screamed loudly as she was being dragged out.

Shortly, one of the king's attendant whispered to him,
"My king, are you sure she's really the one who stole your emerald?"

The king responded,
"She talks too much. If someone is innocent, they don't prove themselves. They appear to be relaxed and calm. She is truly the thief!"

Dalia got punished for a crime committed by Linda. How often do we feel the need to defend and justify ourselves to others? When you constantly talk too much and explain yourself, people become suspicious of you and begin to doubt your sincerity. You're also showing lack of confidence which can lead to several problems in the future. Confident people don't need to explain themselves because they know what they are talking about and how to express themselves in the best possible way. It is important to stop over-explaining yourself and learn to trust your own intuition.

THE TEA BOY

A Short Moral Story.

There was a poor boy who sold hot tea every morning on the busy city street. Usually, he was always walking around and asking passerbys to buy some hot tea.

One morning, as the boy was walking down the street with his tea, he saw a rich boy of eleven, standing outside their car and waiting for his dad. His clothes were neat and tidy, and his shoes were freshly shined. He portrayed an image of wealth, sophistication and class.

The tea boy quickly approached him and said,
"Hello, could you please buy some tea? This is the best tea ever! You know, everyone likes my tea because it is capable of changing someone's life. Don't miss out, it will change your life. Come on, buy some, please."

The rich boy scoffed and spat out a disdainful comment,
"Yuck, that really stinks! Drinking that can send me to the emergency room!"

The tea boy was taken aback by the rich boy's contemptuous attitude. However, he smiled and said,
"Trust me, my tea is amazing. It is made of 100% plain milk and chocolate, it's super healthy for you. And one cup of it is quite affordable. Try it and you'll see."

The rich boy became upset and asked the tea boy to leave, saying that his presence was making him very uncomfortable. However, as the tea boy stepped forward to leave, he stubbed his foot on a stone, staggered and accidentally spilled some tea on the rich boy's shirt.

Before he could apologize, the rich boy quickly pushed him to the ground and all his tea spilled all over. The poor boy could not believe that all his tea was gone. Then, as soon as the rich boy saw his dad coming, he got into the car and they drove away.

Meanwhile, shortly after they left, the tea boy noticed a wallet lying on the ground nearby. It was the rich boy's wallet which had fallen out of his pocket. He quickly picked it up and opened it, finding some cash, an ID and a gold wristwatch. He was marveled. He took his time to look at the gold wristwatch, imagining how much he could sell it. So much money!

The following day, there was a knock on the door of a very big house. The rich boy opened the door and was surprised to find the tea boy standing outside. Before he could say anything, the tea boy showed him his lost wallet and said,

"I saw your address in the wallet, that's how I got here. I know how important everything inside this wallet is to you. Take it"

The rich boy was totally surprised and lost for words as he took the wallet. He remembered how his father had scolded him for being careless. Tears suddenly welled up in his eyes and he said,

"I treated you so badly and said hurtful words to you. I pushed you to the ground and spilled all your tea. Why did you still return my wallet?"

The tea boy smiled and responded,
"I can do anything, but I will never let the ugly in others kill the beauty in me."

How often do we let the ugly in others kill the beauty in us? How often do we let other people's negativity, misery and attitude affect our personality? People treat others poorly and say negative things all the time, right? Well, just because they open their mouth doesn't mean you have to be affected by the words that tumble out. You don't have to give them that power. Remember, some people are negative by nature, not nurture, and you won't always be able to combat these individuals. You just need to rise above their negativity, ignore their detrimental comments, and brush it off. As they say, only you can change yourself, and that is true of others too. If they don't want to change themselves, don't let them change you. Don't let anyone stop you from being a good person.

THE GIRL AND THE KIDNAPPERS

A Short Story Of The Day.

Four child kidnappers hid themselves behind a big tree, waiting for a child victim to pass. They had the certainty that they would succeed in abducting someone that day.

Just then, they saw a little girl coming a mile away. She was all alone and seemed to be on her way home. They watched her so carefully as she walk closer and closer towards them.

The first kidnapper whispered,
"Ah, looks like we would make a lot of money from selling her internal organs on the black market. So much money!"

The second kidnapper muttered,
"Yes! We would not only sell her kidneys, but also her heart, lungs, eyes, liver and bones."

The third kidnapper asked suddenly,
"Her heart? That means she's going to die."

The fourth kidnapper grunted,
"Of course! Who ever said she was going to come out alive?"

At that point, they stopped talking and were staring at the girl who was getting closer and closer. They were waiting for the right time to strike. But as they kept watching, they suddenly saw something that scared the hell out of them. A mighty army of soldiers were at the back of the girl, following her.

The kidnappers became frightened and immediately took to the hills. They ran and ran through bushes and over hills for a long time, until their feet got so swollen. When they finally stopped, they were panting heavily.

One of the kidnappers then asked,
"Who... who were those soldiers? And why were they following the girl?"

Another kidnapper responded,
"No... they were not real soldiers. I think they were the angels of God guiding and protecting the little girl."

Let's face it, no matter how we live, we can't get away from this very sad fact- crime, wrong influences, danger- are everywhere around us in the world. But we can be assured that God is still with us, no matter who or what we encounter in this lifetime. Many times, you may never even know the way God has shielded both you and your family from danger. May the angels of God walk by your side to accompany you on your journey, and may they stand behind you like soldiers to protect you from all dangers.

THE ACT OF GREED

A Short Moral Story.

An old man saw two young boys arguing about something. He called both of them and asked what the matter was.

The first boy said,
"The gold is mine! We crawled on the ocean bottom and found gold in the rocks. I saw it first, so it's mine! It's mine!"

The second boy shot back,
"No, you didn't see it first, we saw it together! Therefore, we have equal ownership and rights over the gold! It's ours!"

A heated argument ensued again between the boys, during which the old man put an end to it. He asked the second boy,
"What do you want to happen?"

He responded humbly,
"I want us to do it the right way. Since we saw the gold together, we should sell it and share the money equally."

The old man then asked the first boy the same question, but he replied in a rather greedy manner,
"I saw the gold first! I want to offer him ten coins so then I will have the gold all to myself."

The old man thought for a moment, then agreed to what the first boy said. He asked him to offer the ten coins to the second boy and then have the gold to himself.

After exchanging the coins for the gold, the first boy walked away with so much excitement in his heart. He definitely knew he was going to sell the gold for over eighty coins.

He then took the gold to a goldsmith's shop and asked him how much he would buy it. However, the goldsmith stared at the gold for a long time, then shook his head and said dully,
"This is fake gold. It has no worth!"

The boy was both shocked and dismayed upon hearing that. He wept and was completely at a loss. He ran back to the old man and cried,
"It's fake gold! It's fake gold! I lost all my coins!"

The old man scoffed and said,
"Yes, I noticed it was fake gold, but I let you have it in exchange for your ten coins because I wanted to teach you a lesson! You should always care about others and should not be too greedy or you'll lose everything! That will serve as a lesson to you."

In a world driven by ambition, success and material wealth, it is easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of greed. It can consume our thoughts, actions, and ultimately, our happiness. But what if we paused a moment, took a step back and reflected on the consequences of our own greed? It makes us blind and foolish. We risk all in being too greedy and we can end up destroying ourselves.

THE MAN AND THE BAKER

A Story Of Hope.

A frustrated young man ran into a bakery and began to weep like a child. He was overwhelmed by complete hopelessness in life. As he growled in frustration, the baker who was an old lady, walked up to him and asked,
"Hey, what's the matter with you?"

The young man couldn't even speak for a few seconds as he was unable to control his emotions. After a long silence, he finally said,

"I feel useless, worthless and defeated. Everything I love has been stolen from me, including my precious daughter who died in a tragic and heartbreaking way. My hardwork doesn't pay off and I struggle to make it through the day. I have no friends, no pride, no joy, no adventure, no future and no idea how to even get back to where I was before, when life was good. I'm now hopeless and helpless. My life is so hot and the flame burns like a blazing fire. I'm tired, I'm tired!"

The old baker felt compassion for the young man and said to him,
"I am so sorry that you are going through this. Please, tell me how I can help you because I want to."

The young man replied,
"Tell me an inspiring story of hope, a story to give me strength in this hard time."

The old baker paused for a moment, and then pointed at a batch of her freshly baked bread. With a smile on her face, she said,

"Look at those bread loaves, the ones I just baked. They were once like you, their lives were so hot. They just experienced the worst moment of their lives. They stayed inside a very hot oven and went through severe pain from the excessive heat. Life was very harsh for each of every one of them. They were burnt mercilessly by the blazing heat from the oven for a long period of time. They cried for help, but no one came to their aid. They lost their soft and white skin, and turned hard and brown. At some point, they were hopeless and thought it was the end. However, they didn't know that all their hardship was a blessing in disguise, shaping their destinies and leading them to greatness. Those bread loaves you see... came out of the oven, becoming one the most delicious and sought-after food in the world."

At that moment, the old baker gently touched the young man on the shoulder, then whispered to him,
"Trust me, every hardship has a silver lining: a blessing in disguise. Be patient with yourself and let the situation unfold. Do your best and let the Almighty do the rest. You'll emerge stronger and better, able to face whatever he sends your way. Just like my bread loaves, all your sufferings will be transformed into greatness."

THE BAD MOM

A Story With A Valuable Lesson.

One evening, a man heard his neighbour screaming angrily. She was yelling at her own five-year-old son. She spanked him several times, until the boy began to cry. He cried for a long time, then stopped. The man was left confused and worried.

The following day, in the evening, the man heard his neighbour yelling at her son again. He heard the boy pleading with his mother to please have mercy. However, his mother beat him severely and threatened to pour hot water on him. It became clearly obvious to the man that the mother was abusing her own child.

The man quickly left his house and went to the police station in the next town to report the situation. He told them,

"My neighbour is a bad mom, a very bad mom. She uses hard objects such as belt, stick and a cain to hit her child. She physically harms the little boy everyday and threatened to burn his skin with hot water. She should be arrested, and the child be taken away from her!"

The police asked,
"How long has this been going on?"

The man replied,
"It has been quite a long time, but I noticed it yesterday. I heard everything with my own two ears. I'm very sure!"

The police needed evidence to proceed with the case, so they gave the man their phone number and asked him to contact them immediately if the incident happened again.

The following evening, the man heard his neighbour screaming and yelling at her son again and beating him up even more. He immediately dialed the police who assured him they were on their way.

A few minutes later, the police arrived. Along with the man, they all stormed into the mother's house. Upon seeing the mother and her son, one of the police said to her,
"I'm Officer Clinton, and you are under arrest for child abuse."

However, to their great surprise, the boy burst into a hilarious laughter. The mother then looked at her son and they both smiled at each other. She paused for a moment, then said,

"I actually don't know what you're talking about. Just to let you know, my son has an upcoming drama presentation in his school. I promised I'd help him rehearse which we started two days ago. The drama is about a little boy whose abusive mother would get so drunk and beat him up pretty bad. Did you actually think I was really hurting my own child?"

The police officers were disappointed and turned to the man who was filled with shame and embarrassment. Then one of the police said to him,

"We understand that you were concerned about the boy's safety, but sometimes in life, things are not always what they seem. Maybe this is a lesson that every one of us should learn. We need to understand that what we perceive in our minds, might not always be exactly the truth. And if we are not careful, we could be sharing false information that can have some serious consequences. We should learn to look closer or study situations to know what's exactly going on. We need to do our research and get facts straight before throwing labels on people. False accusations are a serious matter which could be a result of our misunderstanding."

THE REJECTED SHEEP

A Short Moral Story.

One day, a farmer said to all his sheep.
"There's a foreign buyer coming tomorrow to buy all of you. He's a very wealthy man. Guess what? He will transport you to his country by ship. You are going to have a new home abroad. It's like a different world entirely. You will witness the magical moments of snowfall. Wouldn't that be amazing?".

Upon hearing that, all the sheep became very excited and began cheering loudly. They stayed up all night waiting for dawn.

The following morning, the foreign buyer arrived and made payment for the sheep. However, as the sheep were being loaded into the truck, the buyer noticed something: one of the sheep had a broken leg and was limping. He said to the farmer.
"Hey, look, what happened to that sheep?".

The farmer responded.
"It fell from a hill and sustained a fracture. It will heal completely in a week, I promise".

The buyer, however, was not satisfied with the limping sheep, and he said.
"I'm afraid I can't buy that sheep. It's not fit to travel with me due to it's poor health condition. I would like to get a refund for it, please".

The moment the limping sheep realized it had been rejected, it's heart broke into pieces and it began to cry. It stood aside, crying and watching the other sheep as they got into the truck and were driven away.

That evening, the farmer found the limping sheep lonely and depressed. In an attempt to console it, he said.
"Come on, it's not the end of the world. Life has so much in store for you. Don't lose hope. Good things always come in the end. Okay?".

After he said that, the sheep became drowsy and soon fell asleep.

Two days later, the farmer was in a state of complete shock and dispair as he could not believe the news he had just heard. Unable to control his emotions, he went to the sheep barn and he began to weep. When the limping sheep asked what the matter was, the farmer said achingly.
"I just got the terrible news that the ship carrying all the sheep to another country had sank into the ocean with no reported survivors. Everyone, everything was lost".

The limping sheep was so dumfounded that it couldn't say anything. Then the farmer murmured.
"You could have joined them, if not for your broken leg. And yes, you could have been among the dead sheep right now. Indeed, rejection is a blessing in disguise, isn't it?".

Many times, we feel disappointed or dejected over some life experiences. We become sad and angry when things don't work out the way we want them to. The truth is, God works in mysterious ways: his ways cannot be understand by man. He sometimes causes us to have an experience that could be a disappoinment to us, but which will eventually surmount to a huge blessing. We shouldn't be too worried and upset whenever we face disappointments and rejections in life because we never know what blessing awaits us.

THE KING AND THE FOUR ARTISTS

A Short Moral Story.

An old king suffered from a serious mental illness. He had lost the ability to experience joy or pleasure. He always felt numb and less interested in things that he once enjoyed.

One day, the king invited an artist to draw a portrait of him. He wanted to feel happy seeing himself in a picture. He told the artist to try as hard as possible to make the portrait look very beautiful and worthwhile.

The artist wanted the king to be very proud of him, so he put a lot of hardwork and skill into his drawing. Then, as soon as he finished, he showed it to the king with a smile on his face.

However, the king scoffed at the sight of the portrait, and then grumbled,
"This doesn't look good at all. It doesn't even look like me. You're so stupid, and you're a failure!"

The artist could not believe what the king had just said. He felt very sad and disappointed. He left there feeling like a failure.

The following day, the king invited a second artist to draw a portrait of him. Just like the first artist, the king told him to give it his best shot. His head bobbed with eagerness, confident that he would surely impress the king.

A while later, the artist finished drawing the portrait and then displayed it before the king. But to his great dismay, the king frowned at it as he didn't find it appealing. He groaned,

"This is total crap! I thought you would do better, but you're just like the first artist. Both of you are so stupid and also failures!"
The artist left downcasted and filled with sadness at his failure.

On the third day, the king invited a third artist to draw a portrait of him. He offered to pay highly, very highly If the picture could capture his heart. The aritst was filled with enthusiasm and a desire to make the king feel happy.

However, he was shocked when the king condemned and rejected his drawing, saying,
"I think you need to take a drawing class. The three of you are the same! You're all failures! So stupid!" Those words crushed him and left him feeling even more worthless.

On the fourth day, the king invited a fourth artist to draw a portrait of him. Unlike the others, however, there was something unusual about the artist. Quite unusual.

When the king rejected his drawing and called him stupid and a failure, everyone was surprised when he laughed heartily and began to smile, and his smile was one of great pleasure.

Then, someone walked up to him and said silently,
"The king said you're stupid and also a failure. Why aren't you feeling bad about it? Why do you seem so happy being insulted?"

The artist smiled and said,
"The king is mentally ill and doesn't find pleasure in anything. I should understand that. Also, his point of view and opinion all come from his mental condition. Why should I let it lower my worth or define who I am?"

Nearly all of us at some time or another have experienced insults being directed at us. But few of us stop to examine what is actually going on, and very often we actually feel wounded by these insults, and harsh criticism and take them onboard. We should understand that when people insult us, they are either just venting out their frustration or going through a mental phase. Don't let it kill your energy. It has nothing to do with you, but has everything to do with them.

THE THIRD QUEEN

A Short Moral Story

A very wealthy and powerful king married his third wife, a young beautiful woman named Lyla. She was meek, kind and had a humble manner. Because of her friendly and hospitable nature, she got on very well with the other queens and everyone in the palace.

One day, the second wife of the king, Diane, approached Lyla privately and told her a lot of horrible things about the first wife, Brenda.

"I noticed you've become very friendly with Brenda. Listen, you're new in this palace, so let me explain something to you. Brenda is the first queen and the most powerful one, especially as she is the mother of the heir to the throne. She has a special status, so you can't trust her. She is a very evil person and really good at hiding her true personality. She has done a lot of bad things to me ever since I came to the palace. If you're not careful, she's going to destroy you like she destroyed me. You should stop hanging around her. She is very powerful and does wicked things. I hate her!."

Upon hearing that, Lyla looked at Diane, confused. Then she said,
"Thank you. Henceforth, I'm going to keep distance from Brenda."

However, the next day, Diane was surprised when she saw Lyla in the company of Brenda, the first queen. The two who had developed a strong friendship, seemed to be having a pleasant moment together.

Diane had to wait until Lyla returned to her private chamber before she went in and confronted her.
"You assured me you would avoid Brenda at all costs. Why do you still mingle with her? Listen, it's for your own good. Brenda has done so many awful things to me, which she can also do to you. You have to cut off friendship with her. Believe me, she is pretending to be nice. She is manipulative, deceitful and two-faced. I detest her with my entire being."

With all the things Diane said about Brenda, Lyla heaved a gentle sigh and murmured,
"I guess I forgot about it. Don't worry... From now on, I will hate Brenda for the rest of my life, I assure you."

Diane left afterwards, saying that she would come back the following day. Every night, she returned to Lyla's chamber to say bad things about Brenda, convincing Lyla to hate her. She got upset whenever she saw Lyla getting along with Brenda.

One morning, Lyla approached Diane with a gloomy face. Her eyes were teary and she looked very sad. She handed Diane a piece of paper and said,

"Everything you told me about Brenda is true. She is wicked and has hurt me so badly. I wish I had listened to your warnings. On the paper, I wrote all the horrible things she has done to me. You really should read it, but in your leisure time."

Diane smiled as she watched Lyla walk away. She was happy because Lyla finally ended her friendship with Brenda. Then she took the paper to somewhere and opened it. But what she read shocked her to the bones. The paper said,

"Dear Diane, If you must hate people, hate them alone. Don't recruite me to hate them with you. That's witchcraft! Stop forcing me to hate queen Brenda who has done nothing wrong to me. Your problems with her is none of my business! Leave me alone!."

MORAL LESSONS: Don't hate people because of what you heard about them without an attempt to verify the truth. Also, don't talk bad about people behind their back, don't fall into a bad habit of gossiping.
