At Visionary Care Foundation - Cameroon, play is more than recreation — it’s a foundation for healing, resilience, and peace.

Harnessing the Power of Play for Healing and Peace

Through our programs, we use play as a pathway to:
✅ Support the mental health and psychosocial recovery of children exposed to violence
✅ Promote nonviolence, empathy, and peaceful coexistence between internally displaced and host community children
✅ Foster a culture of peace where everyone’s rights are respected, and every child feels safe, loved, and valued

By catching them young, we are shaping a generation that understands fairness, embraces diversity, and chooses peace over violence.

Through the power of play, we are nurturing a future built on compassion, inclusion, and shared humanity.

Together, we are raising peacebuilders — one child, one game, one smile at a time.

“I had just 10 exercise books out of 16 needed, so I had to share one for two subjects. With this support, I’ll be able to copy my notes in a more organized way, and reading them will be easier.” 💜

Yesterday in Bangem, we celebrated the International Day of the Girl Child— delayed due to political instability but filled with renewed hope and determination.

We brought together 25 girls and 15 boys, alongside community and administrative leaders — including the Mayor of Bangem Municipality, the Divisional and Subdivisional Delegates of Women’s Empowerment and the Family for Kupe Muanenguba Division and Bangem Subdivision, the Chief of the Youth Center, and youth leaders — to promote gender equality and the rights of the girl child.

Through sessions on confidence, leadership, and menstrual hygiene, participants empowered one another to dream boldly and lead confidently. We also invited boys and male leaders to write pledges committing to respect and support girls’ rights— demonstrating that equality begins with shared responsibility.

As part of the celebration, we distributed school materials — exercise books, pens, pencils, rulers, and pads — ensuring that every girl has the tools she needs to continue learning.

This day reminded us that empowering girls transforms entire communities.
When we invest in girls’ education, we invest in equality, opportunity, and lasting change.

We paused to strengthen our capacities

At Visionary Care Foundation, we believe that the quality of our response to Gender-Based Violence (GBV) depends on the strength of our team.

From October 13–18, we paused field operations to build our capacities in GBV case management and core humanitarian principles — a week of reflection, learning, and transformation.

Supported by Reseau des Jeunes Feminists d'Afrique Centrale through their project to strengthen young feminist-led organizations in Central Africa, with funding from the in Yaoundé, the training deepened our understanding of:
✅ Survivor-centered GBV case management approaches
✅ Power dynamics and communication in crisis response
✅ The humanitarian principles of Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, and Independence

It was more than a workshop - it was a space to evaluate our work, share experiences, and realign our strategies to serve survivors more effectively.

We’re proud that over 70% of our team demonstrated more than a 75% improvement in knowledge, proof that investment in people yields lasting impact.

We sincerely appreciate and the for believing in the power of capacity strengthening. Together, we’re shaping a more accountable and effective GBV response system in Cameroon.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL CHILD 2025

Theme: “The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead: Girls on the Frontlines of Crisis”

Yesterday, we joined the world to celebrate the power, resilience, and leadership of adolescent girls — especially those in communities facing crisis and instability.

At Visionary Care Foundation, we see daily how girls are not just surviving, but leading change.
From advocating for education and peace to supporting their peers through mentorship and community initiatives, girls continue to show courage, creativity, and strength in the face of adversity.

Yet, many still face barriers that threaten their dreams and well-being:
💔 Interrupted education due to insecurity and displacement
💔 Early and forced marriages
💔 Gender-based violence and limited access to justice
💔 Lack of access to reproductive health services and life skills
💔 Exclusion from leadership and decision-making spaces

Despite these challenges, girls are building resilient families, communities, and societies — they are caregivers, peace advocates, and problem-solvers.

This year’s theme is a call to action for all of us — parents, communities, institutions, and leaders — to:
✅ Invest in girls’ education and leadership opportunities
✅ Create safe and inclusive spaces for their participation
✅ Protect their rights and amplify their voices

When we empower girls, we strengthen communities.
When we listen to their voices, we build sustainable peace.
When we let them lead, we transform our world.

At Visionary Care Foundation, we remain committed to nurturing adolescent girls as changemakers — equipping them with knowledge, skills, and opportunities to lead the change they envision.

The girl child is not the future — she is the now. Let’s invest in her.

Yesterday in Bangem, we witnessed the power of adolescent boys choosing a different path.

Through sports and art, they explored the heavy masks society expects them to wear—masks of power, domination, breadwinner, and “never afraid.” Yet when given the chance, they drew who they truly want to be: respectful, caring, emotionally open, and supportive.

This session, part of our flagship initiative “Catch Them Young” and the project “Champions for Change: Engaging Adolescent Boys to Prevent VAWG, Shift Negative Masculinity, and Promote Gender Equality,” revealed the boys’ eagerness to embrace change and redefine what it means to be a man.

Together with Football and Sports Academy, we are working to challenge harmful social norms before they become entrenched—empowering boys to choose respect and empathy over domination and silence.

As our facilitator reminded the boys at the end of the activity:

True strength is not in violence or domination, but in respect, care, and standing up for what is right.
