Global Welfare Association (GLOWA)

Global Welfare Association (GLOWA) GLOWA is a survivor-led counter trafficking NGO in Special Consultative Status with the UN ECOSOC

GLOWA (Global Welfare Association), is a counter-trafficking NGO, based in Bamenda in the North West Republic of Cameroon. The charity was established in 2004 by Jamils Achunji Anguaseh, himself a survivor of child-trafficking, who was determined to prevent further trafficking within his community and to provide much needed support to victims. Under his leadership, GLOWA has grown significantly ov

er the past ten years with many other survivors of trafficking joining the team, bringing with them first-hand experiences that continually inform GLOWA’s programs and investments. Today, GLOWA is organised around programs to identify trafficking scams, educate communities, lobby policy-makers and deliver programs to help in the rehabilitation of victims. GLOWA enjoys special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Committee (ECOSOC) and is also a member of the Commonwealth 8.7 Network, a global network of 60+ local organisations working to eradicate contemporary forms of slavery and human trafficking.

Today, Global Welfare Association (GLOWA) proudly joined other civil society actors contributing to the CSO complementary report for Cameroon’s Voluntary National Review (VNR) of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Our participation reflects our continued commitment to:
• Child protection and safeguarding
• Combating trafficking and exploitation
• Inclusive education for vulnerable children
• Gender equality and protection
• Survivor-centered reintegration
• Community resilience and accountability
At GLOWA, we believe sustainable development cannot be achieved while vulnerable children, survivors, women, and marginalized communities remain exposed to exploitation, exclusion, violence, and limited access to opportunities.
Through this national SDG accountability process, we are ensuring that the voices and realities of vulnerable populations are represented in conversations shaping Cameroon’s future.
We appreciate the collaboration of civil society organizations, development partners, and stakeholders working toward a safer, fairer, and more inclusive Cameroon.
Together, we can break the cycle of child trafficking and leave no one behind.

We are proud to announce a new partnership between Global Welfare Association (GLOWA) and Together for Girls (TfG) through the Brave Movement to establish BRAVE-Cameroon — a national survivor-led platform dedicated to ending sexual violence against children and adolescents in Cameroon.
This partnership marks an important step toward building a coordinated national movement centered on prevention, healing and justice. Through BRAVE-Cameroon, survivors, civil society organizations, grassroots actors, government institutions and allies will come together to strengthen advocacy, amplify survivor voices and drive systemic change.
As a survivor-led organization, GLOWA remains committed to ensuring that lived experience informs action, policy and accountability.
We look forward to working closely with Together for Girls, Brave Movement, survivors, partners and communities across Cameroon to advance a safer and more just future for children and adolescents.
We invite organizations, individuals and other actors (influencers) who are passionate for the protection of children and adolescent from social exploitation to join Brave Cameroon. Contact GLOWA for details.

International Day of Education 2026 – January 24
Theme: The Power of Youth in Co-Creating Education
Young people are not just beneficiaries of education—they are leaders, innovators, and solution-builders.
As we celebrate the IDE2026, GLOWA is reflecting on its commitment to work hand-in-hand with youth in conflict-affected communities to reimagine education as a pathway to healing, inclusion, peace and opportunities.
We employ all education stakeholders to join us in amplifying youth voices, supporting youth-led initiatives and advocating for inclusive, community-driven education in Cameroon especially in these times of uncertainties.
Please:
- Tag a young changemaker who inspires you.
- Share to stand for youth-led education and expanding opportunities.
Tag a young person or youth group in your community that is using education to create positive change.

Year-End Reflection – Lessons from 2025
As 2025 comes to a close, we pause to reflect.

We are grateful to every community member, partner and supporter who walked with us through 2025. Your trust and solidarity made our work possible.

Hope with Action: The Vision Guiding GLOWA into 2026
As we step into 2026, Global Welfare Association (GLOWA) carries forward a vision anchored in hope translated into action, shaped by lived experiences and sustained through collective effort. Our path forward is guided by the voices, resilience, and aspirations of communities affected by violence, poverty and exclusion, particularly women, children, and youths in the North West Region of Cameroon.
At the core of this vision is people-centered and community-led development. GLOWA believes that lasting transformation is only possible when communities are not passive recipients of aid but active leaders of their own recovery and growth. In 2026, we will continue to strengthen locally driven solutions that restore livelihoods, rebuild trust and promote social cohesion while recognizing the deep connection between human dignity and environmental sustainability. From climate-resilient agriculture to watershed and ecosystem restoration, our work embraces development that is both humane and regenerative.
Healing and mental well-being remain central to the action we carry forward. Years of armed conflict have left deep and often invisible wounds, trauma, loss, disrupted childhoods and fractured communities. In 2026, GLOWA will deepen its commitment to mental health and psychosocial support by advancing trauma-informed, culturally grounded approaches across community, educational and health spaces. Through safe spaces, therapeutic environments, advocacy and integration of mental health into primary healthcare, we envision communities where healing is accessible, dignified and free from stigma.
Our vision for 2026 is also firmly rooted in justice, empowerment and inclusion. Survivors of violence, children born of war and economically marginalized women and youth deserve more than survival, they deserve opportunity, voice and agency. GLOWA will expand initiatives that promote legal empowerment, skills development, digital inclusion and entrepreneurship, with a strong focus on women and young people. We envision an ownership-driven future where communities shape their own narratives, control their resources and build sustainable pathways out of vulnerability.
Partnership and advocacy will continue to define how we work. The challenges our communities face are complex and interconnected, requiring collaboration across sectors and borders. In 2026, GLOWA will strengthen partnerships with grassroots organizations, researchers, policymakers, donors and global allies to amplify community voices and influence systems and policies that prioritize equity, peace and sustainability. Evidence, storytelling and community knowledge will remain central to our advocacy.
Above all, the vision guiding GLOWA into 2026 is one of hope with action, hope that listens, hope that heals and hope that builds. It is hope grounded in courage and responsibility, transforming pain into purpose and resilience into lasting change.
As we move forward, GLOWA remains committed to walking with communities, not ahead of them, toward a future where healing, justice, opportunity and dignity are shared realities. This is the vision guiding us into 2026 and we invite our partners, allies and communities to move forward with us.
Happy New Year
