The Kilum-Ijim White Honey Association (KIWHA) is an umbrella organization established to unite the participants in the honey value chain who are committed to maintaining the original quality of Oku white honey and preserving the Kilum-Ijum forest.

KIWHA participated in the International Festival for Penja White pepper PGI (IGP Poivre de Penja)from June 24 to 26 2025 in Penja Cameroon. Penja White pepper and Oku White Honey are the first Geographical Indication products to be certified in Cameroon in 2013 by the African Intellectual Property Organisation (OAPI). It was an opportunity for KIWHA to share her experience with participants of the event while learning from the expertise of other partners. This event was organized under the patronage of the Cameroon Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development. KIWHA was also fortunate share knowledge during this festival with Miel Royale from Guiding Hope who are promoters of Oku White Honey with focus on Marketing.

KIWHA organized on training workshop on tree nursery development and management for Oku White Honey cooperatives in the Ijim compartment of Kilum-Ijim forest. 15 delegates from 4 Oku White Honey Cooperatives participated in the training.The training was done on the 1st of March 2025 in Fondung Council hall. Trained as trainers to lead conservation actions in their various cooperatives, they were equally enlightened on the various indigenous trees of Kilum-Ijim forest, their flowering periods, possible periods for seed collection in the year and seed germination in the nursery. Kilum-Ijim forest is the source of Oku White Honey and Forest conservation is Key in the value chain development of Oku White Honey. After the training KIWHA distributed about 10000 seeds of indigenous tree species to be nursed, managed and planted in Kilum-Ijim as a conservation strategy to improve the production of Oku White Honey.

KIWHA participated in an evaluation workshop for the Second phase of the project to support the implementation of Geographical Indication in the members states of OAPI (PAMPIG II). This workshop was organized by the African Intellectual Property Organization (OAPI) on the 9th of January 2025 in Yaounde Cameroon. PAMPIG II Project was focused on the Consolidation and Sustainability of Oku White Honey a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI). During this workshop knowledge sharing was focused on the adoption of Geographical Indication by the various actors in the Oku White Honey value chain. Following the priority actions of PAMPIG II Project, evaluation targeted project activities carried out, successes registered and challenges encountered with PAMPIG II . The evaluation workshop was successful with beautiful ideas from our evaluators and a promising strategies for innovation and development in the Oku White Honey Sector. KIWHA was was represented by the President of the Association and her Animator.

KIWHA participated in the celebration of the 6th Global Entrepreneurship Week organized by Le Boukarou in Bamenda on November 27th 2024. This was a flagship event that takes place every year aimed at initiating and encouraging innovation and business creation (Entrepreneurship) as a key driver of economic growth and employment. The theme of discussion was "ideation and creativity and pitch deck training". Entrepreneurship is the key driver of economic growth, employment and innovation especially in developing countries. Le Boukarou a support structure dedicated to Entrepreneurship has the mission of supporting young entrepreneurs in their journey. This was an opportunity for KIWHA to learn while sharing her experience with participants of the event. The Kilum-Ijim White Honey Association (KIWHA) organized her 2nd General Assembly from October 9th to 10th 2024 in Bamenda at Splendid Complex. This General Assembly was attented by delegates elected from the different production zones around Kilum-Ijim forest (Oku, Kom and Jakiri). The delegates included individual producers and producer structures like CIGs, Cooperatives, Enterprises etc. KIWHA General Assembly had as objectives to
-Revise KIWHA status and bylaws
-Adopt the functional.framework between KIWHA and it's branches/Other structures and actors
-Elect members in to the executive beaux of the Association
-Elect Controllers of Quality for Oku White Honey
-Train Elected controllers on control system for Oku White Honey PGI. It was a successful two days activity. The General Assembly was organized within the framework of KIWHA-PAMPIG II Project focused on the consolidation and sustainability of Oku White Honey as a Protected Geographical Indication. KIWHA acknowledges the financial and technical support of AFD and OAPI to see that this project is realized. We call on all actors active in the Oku White Honey value chain to join KIWHA lets see how to push our protected Geographical Indication product to another desirable level.
