DIGNITY MATTERS.

Age should never mean being forgotten.

As the world commemorates the International Day of Older Persons, GRACARO chose to take the celebration beyond a single event and into the homes of vulnerable older persons.

On 30 September 2026, GRACARO carried out a door-to-door community outreach ahead of the official observance on 1 October, bringing this year's theme “The Age of Longevity: Rethinking Systems for Longer Lives” directly to older persons and their caretakers.

The message was simple but powerful:

If people are living longer, they should also be able to live healthier, safer and more dignified lives.

During the household visits, GRACARO:

❤️ Shared awareness on the wellbeing and rights of older persons.
🌿 Provided traditional health support through Athemesia cultivated in GRACARO's tree nursery.
💊 Distributed RHOMATUS supplement.
🧼 Provided soap to support household hygiene.
🤝 Followed up on challenges previously raised by the households.
🗣️ Encouraged continued participation, learning, contribution and intergenerational solidarity.

Three vulnerable households were reached, and the older persons and caretakers welcomed the team warmly, expressed their appreciation, and requested continued engagement from GRACARO.

This is what community work looks like:

GRACARO remains committed to improving the living standards of vulnerable persons and promoting a community where older persons can live with security, dignity and self-reliance.

UNITING VOICES AGAINST VIOLENCE
This morning, GRACARO, under the umbrella of the +237 Task Force Against Femicide, joined fellow CSOs at CRTV Bamenda to discuss the rising cases of GBV and other forms of violence against humanity in Cameroon.
Our focus was clear: prevention rather than reaction.
We must not wait for violence to happen before we act. We must address the values, social norms, relationships and beliefs that allow human life to lose its value.
From GRACARO's perspective, restoring human dignity, values and healthy relationships is essential to preventing violence.
The Bible reminds us that every human being is created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27). When we truly value human life, we cannot justify violence, abuse or the destruction of another person's dignity.
The fight against femicide, GBV, gendercide, homicide, androcide and all forms of violence requires collective action.
No CSO can do it alone. We must join our voices, resources and experiences around a common goal and shared vision.
GRACARO appreciates the CEO of United Youth Organization for this important initiative of bringing CSOs together to unite our voices in Cameroon.
Let us move from reaction to prevention, from silence to action, and from violence to dignity.
Together, let us restore human values, dignity and relationships—and prevent violence before another life is lost.

COMMUNITY HEALTH OUTREACH – LET’S SERVE TOGETHER.
GRACARO is taking healthcare closer to the community through a Community Health Outreach in Bamendakwe on Wednesday, 26th August 2026, from 6:30 AM.
The outreach will provide community members with access to basic health services and health education, including:
🩺 Vital signs checks
🩸 Blood pressure screening
🍬 Blood sugar screening
❤️ Awareness on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs)
📚 Health education and prevention messages
🤝 Community engagement and referral where necessary

Community health is not the responsibility of health workers alone. It requires individuals, organizations, businesses, churches, community leaders and other partners who are passionate about improving the wellbeing of vulnerable communities.
GRACARO is therefore opening opportunities for individuals and organizations to support or join this initiative as:

Yesterday marked a significant milestone for Grace Charitable and Rehabilitation Organization (GRACARO) as we successfully conducted the orientation session for our present batch of internship students at the GRACARO Conference Hall.
The interns, drawn from the Department of Communication, Development, and Project Management, were introduced to GRACARO's vision, mission, core values, organizational structure, code of conduct, safeguarding policies, professional ethics, reporting systems, and the important role they will play in advancing humanitarian and community development initiatives.
What made the day even more inspiring was that immediately after the orientation, all the four interns demonstrated exceptional enthusiasm and commitment by engaging immediately into the organizational activities and assignments. Their willingness to learn, serve, and contribute reflects the kind of leadership and professionalism that our communities need.
At GRACARO, we believe that internships should be more than a requirement for graduation. They should be transformative experiences where young professionals gain practical skills, build character, strengthen leadership capacity, and make meaningful contributions to society while being mentored by experienced practitioners.
We warmly welcome these young professionals into the GRACARO family and look forward to supporting their growth throughout their internship journey.
