ABOUT US
The Justice and Peace Commission of the Archdiocese Bamenda is a part of the Universal Network of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace of the Catholic Church. It links up the Justice, Peace, and Development Department at Continental level (Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar - SECAM), and Commissions and Services at Regional and National levels. Its origin came at the heels of the Second Vatican Council on January 6th, 1967. It was created in Bamenda in the month of December 2002 by the then Archbishop, His Grace Paul Verdzekov. He appointed 12 members to constitute the commission. The Commission is working at the grassroots through its Archdiocesan, Deanery and Parochial Commissions which are made up of concerned Catholics who want to work actively to promote peace and social justice.
It is a Service for ALL, irrespective of age, s*x, race, religious background, or walks of life. The Justice and Peace Commission believes in a transformed society whose systems and structures as well as the attitudes and behaviours of the people are respecting and promoting Human Dignity, Equality, Sustainable Peace and Development.
