Hope becomes meaningful when young women and girls are equipped with opportunities to rebuild their lives.

Under the Hope and Voice of Adolescent Girls Project Sustainable Women Organization-SWO recently organized an economic empowerment and livelihood skills training on peanut processing for adolescent girls, teen mothers, and teen widows affected by the crisis in the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon.

Held in Benakuma, the training focused on practical income-generating skills aimed at improving self-reliance and economic stability for the beneficiaries.

The engagement also encouraged peer learning, confidence building, and active participation among the girls and young women as seen the pictures below.

Empowering women and girls with sustainable livelihood skills remains an important step toward restoring dignity, resilience, and community recovery.

This activity is realised with the generous support of UNFPA Cameroon with funds from Bureau régional GIZ Yaoundé and Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ) under the Woman Ehh, Wuna place deh feminists and gender related project.

Learning goes beyond the classroom!

two of our mentorship journey with the girls in the -Sufficiency Project (SSP) was nothing short of inspiring.

We kicked off the morning with a heart centered check-in session, creating a safe and relaxed atmosphere where the girls felt comfortable to open up and engage. This intentional start is vital for building the trust and sisterhood necessary for deep personal growth and meaningful connection.

The highlight of the day was a powerful, hands on session on Vision Boards. We moved beyond just talking about the future and put pen to paper, exploring seven key areas of life- , , Life, , , , and the Self.

To ground dreams in reality, we integrated a SWOT analysis into the process, empowering the girls to identify their internal Strengths and Weaknesses while recognizing external Opportunities and Threats.

By visualizing these goals through a strategic lens, they are learning to align their daily actions with their long term dreams.

This was a deeply practical session where each girl drew and reflected on her own unique vision. Seeing them map out their business ambitions alongside their personal values was a testament to their resilience and determination.

As take home exercise, the girls were given cardboards and asked to properly create their vision on them for the next ten years.

This initiative is achieve as part of the continues empowerment program supported by Magic to the World in Cameroon.

GIRLS AS CHAMPIONS FOR THE PREVENTION OF AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT IN BENAKUMA.

Did you know that every girl child has the potential to become a social mobiliser and community advocate?

Every girl has the ability to share knowledge and lessons learned on issues that limit their growth and development. These include knowledge on stigma, discrimination, denial of opportunities and resources, limited access to health services, and harmful cultural norms.

Empowerment platforms, trainings workshops, and opportunities for practice strengthen girls’ learning, confidence, and leadership potential.

These are girls under the Sustainable Women Organization-SWO project on the Hope and Voice of Adolescent Girls, Teen Mothers, and Widowed Teens in the NOSO Regions, particularly in Valley.

The girls are actively engaged in peer-to-peer empowerment, learning, and community engagement activities in .

As the project gradually phases out, an innovative sustainability strategy was introduced. The capacities of 10 girls were strengthened as Community Champions to continue sensitization, awareness creation, and outreach activities within their communities.

With close follow-up support from the Worker and team, these girls have successfully reached and empowered over 120 of their peers between February and April 2026.

The girls remain committed to increasing community knowledge on all forms of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), including its causes, consequences, prevention, and response mechanisms.

They also continue to advocate for stronger stakeholder support in the collective fight against GBV, discrimination, harmful cultural norms, and negative practices affecting women and girls.

This project continues to record meaningful impact through the support of UNFPA Cameroon , Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ) and Bureau régional GIZ Yaoundé

Empowering Girls begins with helping them believe in themselves!

The begining of a mentorship journey with young women and girls in Bamenda.

Working with young women and girls over the years across Mezam, Momo, Menchum, Boyo and Ngoketunjia Divisions, one major challenge consistently stands out as a limitation to girls’ leadership, socio-economic development and participation in decision-making spaces.

This thing is called Self-esteem and of confidence.

As part of the batch of our -Sufficiency in partnership with Magic to the World, we engaged young women and girls in a transformative mentorship session focused on unpacking and addressing the root causes of low self-esteem and lack of confidence.

We understand that many of these challenges are deeply rooted in and backgrounds, and conditions, expectations, and experiences.

Other factors are through , while others develop through negative experiences, discrimination, fear, and limited opportunities.

Identifying these factors is the first and most important step toward healing, empowerment, and personal growth.

During yesterday’s mentorship session with the use of the imaging tool, participants openly shared who they are, what they love about themselves, their strength, weaknesses, things that makes them happy, those that makes them sad and the woman they want to become in the future.

Together, we explored issues such as self-worth, peer pressure, negative societal stereotypes, fear of failure, feer of being judge, being misunderstood, being discriminated upon, emotional trauma, and the importance of positive self-image.

How we look ourselves as girls determines how the society sees us.

The session encouraged girls to recognize their value, embrace their uniqueness, and build the confidence needed to choose, lead, speak up, be accountable and pursue opportunities without fear.

After interactive discussions, practical exercises, and personal reflections, the girls were reminded that confidence is not something people are born with alone, but something that can be nurtured and strengthened over time.

Session one ended with renewed sense of hope, courage, determination and practical steps to enhance self esteem and confidence among the girls.

This mentorship couldn't have been achieved without the generous and consistent funding from
