WOPEN (Women Peacebuilders Network) is a non-partisan network of women-led organizations and female activists from the North West Region, born out of a simple but powerful moment: women sitting together in 2018 to lament, to be heard, and to demand a seat at the peace table.

Today, that lamentation has grown into action. WOPEN brings communities, women leaders, and local structures together, amplifying women's voices in mediation, dialogue, and conflict resolution, and grounding our work in the United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1325 and 2250.

Because peace is not built once. It is built again and again, adapting as our communities do.

This is our story. And it matters now more than ever.

The discussion highlighted a simple yet urgent reality: commitments alone do not build peace. Real progress happens when policies are translated into meaningful action at community, regional, and national levels, ensuring that women are fully included in peacebuilding, mediation, and decision-making processes.
