OUR FUTURE DEPENDS ON THE CHOICES WE MAKE TODAY

Climate change is one of the greatest challenges facing humanity today. Rising temperatures, unpredictable rainfall, floods, droughts, and deforestation are already affecting communities, food production, water resources, and public health. In Cameroon, many farmers experience reduced crop yields due to changing weather patterns, while urban areas face increasing heat and flooding. If urgent action is not taken, these impacts will continue to threaten livelihoods and economic development.

Addressing climate change requires collective responsibility. Governments should strengthen environmental policies, promote renewable energy, and enforce laws against illegal logging. Communities can support ;
✍️ reforestation by planting trees, protecting forests, and

✍️ adopting sustainable farming practices.

✍️ Individuals can also contribute by reducing waste, recycling, conserving water and electricity, and using environmentally friendly transport whenever possible. Schools and the media should educate citizens about climate action and environmental conservation.

Every action, no matter how small, makes a difference. By working together to protect our environment today, we can build a healthier, greener, and more sustainable future for generations to come.

RISING PRICES, SHRINKING INCOMES

The rising cost of living and inflation have become major concerns for many Cameroonians. Prices of essential goods such as rice, cooking oil, bread, fuel, and transport have increased significantly, making it difficult for families to meet their daily needs.

Small business owners also face higher costs for raw materials, electricity, and transportation, forcing many to raise prices or reduce production. For example, farmers in the North-West and West Regions often struggle with expensive fertilizers and poor road networks, increasing the market price of food in cities like Bamenda, Douala, and Yaoundé.

To address this challenge, the government should strengthen support for local agriculture, improve road infrastructure, stabilize fuel supply, and provide affordable credit to small and medium-sized enterprises.

Promoting local production of food and manufactured goods will reduce dependence on imports and create employment opportunities. Citizens can also support local businesses, practice better financial planning, and encourage savings.

Through sound economic policies, increased productivity, and collective effort, Cameroon can reduce inflation and improve the standard of living for all.

Nursing is passion. it's a calling and not just a professional. Nurses keep the health sector moving.
Every year on May 1st, the world marks International Workers' Day to honor the dedication and hard work of workers across all professions. Among them, nurses stand out as the backbone of the healthcare system, providing compassionate care and saving lives every day.
According to the World Health Organization, nurses make up nearly 50% of the global health workforce, yet many still face challenges such as long shifts, heavy workloads, limited resources, and emotional stress. Despite these difficulties, they remain committed to caring for patients and supporting communities.
Labour Day is an opportunity to recognize the sacrifices nurses make and to advocate for better working conditions, fair pay, and greater respect for their profession. It is also a time to encourage young people to pursue nursing and support initiatives led by organizations like ISEE YOU4CHANGE, which promote youths involvement in health and community service.

DEGREE IS GOOD, BUT SKILLS ARE BETTER

A Message to Great Minds

In a hospital, a certificate on the wall cannot save a patient—only skillful hands and critical thinking can. This reveals an important truth: a degree is valuable, but skills are what truly make the difference.

Many young people focus only on earning degrees, but real success comes from what you can actually do—and you can only do well what you have practiced. After all, practice makes perfect. In healthcare, knowledge alone is not enough; you must act quickly, communicate clearly, and make decisions under pressure. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), medical errors account for an estimated 2.6 million deaths globally each year, and a large portion of these are due to inadequate practical skills or poor communication. Life is fragile—it can be saved or lost in seconds. A skilled person turns knowledge into results, while someone with only a degree may struggle.

To the youth, do not chase certificates alone. Build your skills, gain experience, and practice what you learn. Let certificates chase you. Because in the real world, it is not your degree that speaks—it is your ability that lights the way.
