HAPPY LABOUR DAY TO ALL NURSES

Nursing is passion. it's a calling and not just a professional. Nurses keep the health sector moving.
Every year on May 1st, the world marks International Workers' Day to honor the dedication and hard work of workers across all professions. Among them, nurses stand out as the backbone of the healthcare system, providing compassionate care and saving lives every day.
According to the World Health Organization, nurses make up nearly 50% of the global health workforce, yet many still face challenges such as long shifts, heavy workloads, limited resources, and emotional stress. Despite these difficulties, they remain committed to caring for patients and supporting communities.
Labour Day is an opportunity to recognize the sacrifices nurses make and to advocate for better working conditions, fair pay, and greater respect for their profession. It is also a time to encourage young people to pursue nursing and support initiatives led by organizations like ISEE YOU4CHANGE, which promote youths involvement in health and community service.
In conclusion, nurses are essential to a healthy society. Celebrating them on Labour Day reminds us to appreciate their dedication and to invest in their well-being, ensuring a
stronger and more resilient healthcare system for the future. Happy international labor day.

Why Consistency Matters for Youth and Women in Leadership and Governance

In many societies today, the voices of youth and women are still underrepresented in leadership and governance. While talent, intelligence, and passion are abundant, one key factor often determines who rises and who remains unseen—consistency.

Participation is not a one-time event; it is a continuous process. Showing up to community meetings, contributing to discussions, engaging in civic activities, and speaking up on issues that matter—these small, consistent actions build visibility and influence over time. Leadership is not only about holding a position; it is about being present, active, and committed.

For young people and women, consistency helps break long-standing barriers. When you keep showing up, you challenge stereotypes, shift perceptions, and gradually earn trust and credibility. People begin to recognize your voice, your ideas, and your ability to lead.

Consistency also builds confidence. The more you engage, the more you learn, and the stronger your voice becomes. Even when progress feels slow, every step forward contributes to long-term impact.

Opportunities in governance rarely come to those who remain silent or inconsistent. They come to those who are visible, reliable, and persistent. By staying engaged and committed, youth and women can move from the margins to the center of decision-making.

The journey to inclusive leadership is not instant—but with consistency, it is inevitable.

Is the traditional classroom failing our youth? The answer is in the soil.

In Cameroon, we are witnessing a quiet revolution. While the "white-collar" dream has dominated our educational landscape, the real pathway to employment, innovation, and national development is taking root outdoors.

At ISEEYou4Change, we believe that Outdoor Agricultural Education is the key to unlocking the potential of Cameroon’s most energetic resource: our youth.

Why this is a strategic imperative:
✓ Skill-Gap Closure: Transitioning from theory to "learning by doing" through school gardens and agro-training.

✓ Economic Entrepreneurship: Youth are no longer just students; they are becoming agribusiness owners and organic fertilizer innovators.

✓ Food Security: Strengthening our national infrastructure by building a generation of resourceful, future-focused producers.

🛑 The Challenges: We cannot ignore the barriers of limited land access, outdated curricula, and a lack of funding.

☢️ The Call to Action: We must integrate agricultural learning into our school systems and provide young innovators with the tools they need. The future of Cameroon isn't just written in notebooks—it is being grown in our fields.

Celebrating Excellence | ISEEYOU4Change

We proudly celebrate Ngum Rose Chu on the outstanding defense of her HND in Outdoor Education Activities and Its Effect on Students' Learning in Selected Secondary Schools in Bamenda III Subdivision.

But this is more than an academic milestone it is a declaration.
When young people choose to study how students learn, where they thrive, and why environment shapes potential, they are not just earning certificates they are building the blueprint for change. Rose's research speaks directly to what we believe: that empowering youth begins in the spaces we create for them beyond four walls, beyond limitations.
This is entrepreneurship of the highest kind investing in young minds, designing solutions, and daring to ask questions that communities need answered. Dear Rose ISEEYOU4Change sees you and we are proud.

TBR's Song in Wimbum local language is a creative activism advocacy (use of arts to change society) to fight greed & falsehood in our community. I deeply resonate with the message sent via this song - You'll one day vomit people's rights or properties you usurped. It's a fact. So, stop oppression.

DEGREE IS GOOD, BUT SKILLS ARE BETTER

A Message to Great Minds

In a hospital, a certificate on the wall cannot save a patient—only skillful hands and critical thinking can. This reveals an important truth: a degree is valuable, but skills are what truly make the difference.

Many young people focus only on earning degrees, but real success comes from what you can actually do—and you can only do well what you have practiced. After all, practice makes perfect. In healthcare, knowledge alone is not enough; you must act quickly, communicate clearly, and make decisions under pressure. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), medical errors account for an estimated 2.6 million deaths globally each year, and a large portion of these are due to inadequate practical skills or poor communication. Life is fragile—it can be saved or lost in seconds. A skilled person turns knowledge into results, while someone with only a degree may struggle.

To the youth, do not chase certificates alone. Build your skills, gain experience, and practice what you learn. Let certificates chase you. Because in the real world, it is not your degree that speaks—it is your ability that lights the way.

Fact Highlight:

WHO (2023): Around 10% of hospital patients are harmed while receiving care.

Harvard Business Review (2020):85% of career success comes from soft skills like communication, problem-solving, and teamwork, not academic knowledge alone.

ADDRESSING YOUTH UNEMPLOYMENT IN CAMEROON

The focus must shift from identifying problems to implementing strategies that empower young people and drive sustainable growth.

Here are key actions that can make a real difference:

1. Expand Job Creation: Government and the private sector should invest in high-potential industries such as agriculture, technology, and small-scale enterprises. Supporting youth-led businesses through funding, training, and mentorship can transform job seekers into job creators.

2. Reform the Education System: Education must become more practical and skills-oriented. Strengthening technical and vocational training will equip young people with hands-on expertise relevant to today’s job market.

3. Promote Entrepreneurship & Innovation: Encouraging startups, innovation hubs, and digital skills (such as coding, freelancing, and online marketing) can unlock both local and global opportunities.

4. Enhance Youth Inclusion in Leadership: Young people must be
5. actively involved in decision-making processes. Promoting transparency and merit-based systems will foster trust and national development.

6. Improve Infrastructure & Connectivity: Reliable infrastructure enables businesses to grow and ensures that both urban and rural youths can access opportunities.

7. Promote Peace and Stability: Sustainable development is not possible without peace. Strengthening peacebuilding initiatives and youth reintegration programs is essential.

8. Increase Access to Finance: Youth-friendly financial systems with flexible conditions and lower interest rates are critical to supporting entrepreneurial growth. ISEEYou4Change is committed to helping bridge this gap.

9. Strengthen Health & Social Support: Access to affordable healthcare, mental health services, and awareness programs is vital for a productive and resilient youth population.

10. Modernize Agriculture: By introducing modern techniques, improving access to land, and supporting agribusiness, agriculture

REASONS WHY MOST CAMEROON YOUTHS ARE UNEMPLOYED

Cameroon is blessed with vibrant, energetic, talented, and intelligent youth. Yet, despite representing the backbone of the nation’s economy, many young people between the ages of 18 and 38 remain unemployed. Their participation in the workforce reflects a complex reality—one shaped by resilience, struggle, and survival.

Rather than continuing to focus solely on the challenges, it is time to shift the conversation toward solutions. However, understanding the root causes remains essential:

📌 Educational Misalignment: The current education system is largely theoretical, with a strong emphasis on arts and social sciences, often at the expense of STEM and technical training required by today’s job market. This creates a significant skills gap.

📌 Limited Practical Experience: Many graduates enter the job market without the hands-on skills and experience employers demand, making it difficult to secure employment.

📌 Weak Private Sector & High Tax Burden: An unfavorable business climate, coupled with high taxation, limits the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), reducing job creation opportunities.

📌 Restricted Access to Capital: Young entrepreneurs face major barriers in accessing funding, making it challenging to start and sustain businesses.

📌 Corruption and Nepotism: Employment opportunities are often influenced by favoritism, tribalism, or personal connections rather than merit, undermining fairness and discouraging capable youth.

📌 Rural-Urban Migration: The lack of opportunities in rural areas drives migration to cities, increasing competition for already limited jobs and straining urban resources.

The real question is no longer “What are the problems?” but rather, “What actionable steps can we take to address this crisis and empower our youth?”

It is time for collective action—government, private sector, and young people themselves must work together to create sustainable solutions for ec
