TODAY THE WORLD LIGHTS UP RED.

The wait is officially over! Today, 20 July 2026, marks day one of the Global Week of Inclusion, celebrating 58 years of Special Olympics! To kick off this incredible week of unity, respect, and empowerment, our iconic landmark Table Mountain is lit up RED for inclusion!

For generations, people with intellectual disabilities have been sidelined and isolated by a world that focuses on what they can't do, rather than what they can. Special Olympics was founded 58 years ago to shatter that exact narrative.

When an athlete with an intellectual disability steps onto a sports field, a transformation happens. They build deep confidence, realize their immense potential for growth, and become independent, fearless leaders. But the magic doesn't stop with them. When teammates without intellectual disabilities play right alongside them in Unified Sports, their eyes open. They don't see a diagnosis anymore: they see a competitor, a teammate, a friend, and a human being first.
