Behind the scenes: Andrea Litscher
𝐕𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 - 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬
Andrea’s connection to Sangira goes beyond her own volunteering. Last
summer, she joined the project together with her two sons for the first
time. They volunteered at the school in Nyamasheke as a family. That
experience made Sangira feel especially close to her heart and inspired
her to stay involved long term.
What moves her most is the direct impact she can see in Nyamasheke. She
has seen how much can change when people give their time and energy. In
her role in operations and programme management, she helps keep things
running behind the scenes and on site. She enjoys being part of a team
that works with purpose.
For her, Sangira is about unlocking potential
and transforming lives, equipping underprivileged young adults with the
skills, confidence, and opportunities to create lasting change in their
own lives and communities – it’s about “Giving back”.
When she thinks of Sangira, three words come to mind: happiness, love,
and joy.
