🌍💧 Run4Water: Running together, helping together! 💧🌍

On 3 May, as the Rotaract Club Zurich, together with the Rotary Club Zurich Turicum, we not only sweated at the Lucerne City Run but also achieved something great: We raised CHF 107’000 together with other Rotaracts, Rotarys, Innerwheel clubs, and other participants for the Water Survival Box! 💪✨

The Water Survival Box ensures clean water supply in disaster areas. One Water Survival Box can provide a five-member family with fresh drinking water for five years. The Water Survival Box saves lives – and we were a part of it. 🫶

A huge thank you to all runners, donors, and supporters. You’ve shown what’s possible when commitment and solidarity come together. 🏃‍🏃‍🌊

Exploring the vital role of bees with Philipp! 🍯🐝

Did you know that a single bee can visit up to 5,000 flowers in a day, tirelessly working to pollinate plants?
Bees don’t just make honey—they are essential for keeping our ecosystems balanced and ensuring that many of the fruits, vegetables, and nuts we eat can grow

At our recent event, our member Philipp Tüchthuisen shared his journey into beekeeping
Having recently completed his training, he provided us with:
🌍 Insights into the indispensable role bees play in nature
🐝 An understanding of various bee species, including honeybees, wild bees, and bumblebees
🏡 A glimpse into the dedication required to maintain a healthy beehive

A heartfelt thank you 🙏🏼 to Philipp for offering us a deeper appreciation of these remarkable pollinators and the art of ! 🐝

Half-year in review with our president! 🎉

As we are getting ready for our General Assembly today, our president took a moment to reflect on her first half-year in office - time flies:

🏃 Supporting the .survival.box at the Run 4 Water

She’s especially proud of:
✨ A versatile program that brings us together
📱 A welcoming and vibrant social media presence

🌍 Nordact At Sea 2024 - An Unforgettable Nordic Adventure!

Our Rotaract Club Zürich delegation embarked on an incredible journey to this year's Nordact At Sea, sailing from Copenhagen to Oslo with over 70 from 16 countries! Here’s a glimpse into our voyage:

🌟 Kickoff in Copenhagen
A pre-event dinner on Thursday set the stage for an amazing weekend. Friday marked our official departure from Copenhagen, where everyone was welcomed aboard with name tags, boarding cards, and a taste of Norway with the iconic Kvikklunsj chocolate!

⚓ Learning & Connecting at Sea
After a warm welcome speech by the HOC team, the participants were led through a thought-provoking workshop "Why care about values?" Through meaningful conversations and value-sharing, friendships were formed amidst scenic views and fresh sea air.

🍽️ Evenings on the Open Sea
Each evening had its share of excitement! We enjoyed a Norwegian seafood buffet and cabin pre-parties, which led to dancing under a nautical theme. High waves and a bit of seasickness couldn’t stop us—thanks to some trusty sea sickness pills, (almost) everyone was back to enjoying the night!

🏙️ Exploring Oslo
Waking up to Oslo's sunny fjords, we kicked off our Saturday with a group picture by the iconic opera house, followed by a sauna session right by the water with breathtaking views of the city. We soaked in Oslo’s beauty, from the Vigeland Sculpture Park to scenic walks around town. Perfect weather added to the charm of our Oslo experience!

🎉 Gala Dinner & Dancing Under the Stars
As we sailed back to Copenhagen, we enjoyed a sunset gala dinner with inspiring speeches, awards, and dancing. The waves transformed the dance floor into a unique line-dancing experience, creating memories we’ll never forget.

🛶 Ending on a High Note in Copenhagen
Back in Copenhagen on a sunny Sunday morning, we wrapped up with a city tour of Nyhavn, beautiful sights, and a refreshment at a kayak bar.

Until next time, Nordact! 🌊

At our most recent Rotaract meeting, we had the honor of welcoming Olena Pantsiuk, a Ukrainian journalist with an incredible life story.

Olena shared her experiences of growing up in Pripyat, near the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, where her father worked before the devastating disaster struck. After being evacuated with her family, her story was later featured in a short video by the hashtag .

As the war in Ukraine broke out in 2022, Olena was once again forced to leave her home, this time in Kyiv, and eventually found safety in Switzerland.

In addition to her work in the media, Olena is now dedicating her time to a new project that aims to connect lonely people, reminding us of the importance of human connection during challenging times.

During her talk, Olena drew powerful parallels between the Chernobyl disaster and the current war in Ukraine, highlighting the resilience needed to move forward. She spoke of the strength that has carried her through both personal and national crises, and how, despite the immense challenges, she continues to find hope and purpose and wants to empower people in similar situations to do the same.

Her story left us reflecting on the power of perseverance and the incredible human spirit to overcome even the darkest moments.

We are deeply grateful to Olena for sharing her journey with us, and for reminding us of the importance of solidarity and strength in the face of adversity.
