The programme will open with a high-level dialogue, followed by two sessions focusing first on Industrial Transformation & Supply Chains, and then on Finance & Investment Ecosystems, followed by six parallel sessions exploring key areas of future cooperation: Mobility & Trade Connectivity; Energy Transition & Green Finance; Innovation, AI & Digital Economy; Pharma Market Access & Life Sciences; Education Cooperation & Talent Development; and Legal Frameworks & Market Entry.

Bringing together decision-makers, investors, business leaders, experts, and emerging innovators, the Forum aims to foster meaningful connections and identify new avenues for Swiss expertise, technology, capital, and innovation to contribute to Viet Namโ€™s development ambitions, while opening new opportunities for Vietnamese partners to engage with Switzerland and wider regional markets.

The Forum will culminate in a Closing Plenary and MoU Signing Ceremony, providing a platform to turn dialogue into concrete commitments, strategic partnerships, and actionable pathways for cooperation.

After more than a decade of negotiations, Viet Nam and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) โ€” Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein โ€” concluded negotiations on a comprehensive Free Trade Agreement on 2 July 2026.

The significance of the agreement extends far beyond tariff liberalisation. By establishing disciplines covering trade in goods and services, investment, intellectual property, government procurement and sustainable development, the FTA creates a broader rules-based framework for deeper economic integration.

For Viet Nam, it opens further pathways into advanced European markets, high-value global value chains, technology and knowledge-intensive investment. For EFTA economies, Viet Nam offers an increasingly important gateway to Southeast Asia and one of the regionโ€™s most dynamic production and investment ecosystems.

Yet the real test begins now: can negotiated commitments be translated into commercially meaningful market access, higher-quality investment and stronger value-chain integration?

As we approach SVEF Hanoi 2026 this October, SVEF looks forward to advancing this conversation โ€” from the conclusion of negotiations to the next generation of Viet Namโ€“EFTA economic opportunities.

On 2 September, Viet Nam commemorates its National Day, marking the historic proclamation of the Declaration of Independence in 1945 and the dawn of a new and defining chapter in the nationโ€™s history.

On this momentous occasion, the Swissโ€“Viet Economic Forum (SVEF) pays tribute to Viet Namโ€™s remarkable journey of resilience, national unity, and sustained development, as well as to its increasingly prominent role as a dynamic and resilient economy and a valued partner within the region and the wider international community.
