Under the label of Q***r Swing Zurich the association "Quingtanz Zürich" will organize swing dance events that promote and make visible "q***r" swing dancing and provide safer spaces for LGBTQ+-identifying people, while also welcoming friends and allies.

With a warm heart, we would like to introduce you our voguing artist Nona Fragnière. She has dedicated her life to mastering New Way voguing, one of the three distinct performance categories of voguing. New Way is a gender neutral discipline, where the performer uses their body to create complex geometric illusions, boxes, and sharp angles with the arms, wrists, and hands – imagine the disciplines of architecture and dance having a baby. Pretty awesome, huh.

Would you like to try Lindy Hop, a partner dance, with other q***r people?
Lindy Hop originated in African American culture in the 1930s and remains popular worldwide today.
As part of the first Q***r Swing Dance Exchange (QSXZ), we’re organizing a free introductory Lindy Hop class for q***r people. We’ll go over the steps and basic moves with you.
The class will take place on Friday, June 19 (Pride weekend), from 5:00–6:00 p.m. at the Downtownswing dance studio . You don’t need any prior dance experience or a dance partner, as we’ll be switching partners during the class. Just wear comfortable clothes and flat-soled shoes. There are changing rooms and you might want to bring your water bottle. Due to limited space, we ask that you register in advance (see link in bio)

Can’t make the full weekend? Not sure if a full swing exchange is your thing? No worries — we now have Daily Passes and Party Passes, so you can dip in for just the parts that excite you.
And if you have friends who’ve always wanted to try swing dancing: our free Lindy Hop Crash Course is made for q***r newcomers. No experience needed. Spread the word! 💜
We’ve also updated the schedule with some changes and more details on workshops and events — and made sure there’s plenty to enjoy even if swing dance isn’t your main thing. Check it out on our website.

We’re beyond happy to introduce our burlessque artist ReBella Bacilla Basta. She has been dancing Lindy Hop and burlesque for many years. In 2025 she took the plunge and decided to share her burlesque experiences with others. In collaboration with Kokeshi Momo, she brings the flair and expressiveness of burlesque dance to the QSXZ, combining it in innovative ways with elements of Lindy Hop. In their master class, ReBella Bacilla Basta and Kokeshi Momo approach burlesque as an art form that is open to explore for anyone, regardless of gender or dance experience.

Drum roll please… 🥁

Please give it up for the main band of the QSXZ: Cats and Dinosaurs!

Cats and Dinosaurs describe themselves as a feminist swing music collective from Sweden. The ensemble has been performing throughout Europe since 2014, combining vintage jazz and swing grooves with original, subversive lyrics and an energetic live presence. In addition to their musical performance, thanks to their background as dancers and community builders, they bring a contagious energy for dancing to their sets. Their work celebrates swing not only as music, but as a shared cultural expression born of joy and a desire for visibility.

At QSXZ, Cats and Dinosaurs will play live sets over two evenings. We cannot wait to dance all night long to their tunes 🎵💕

Are you wishing to expand your dance vocabulary? We have something for you! Since 2018, Kimi Fiebig has been performing under the stage name Kokeshi Momo in various burlesque shows both in Switzerland and abroad. She is a passionate teacher of burlesque workshops in Zurich. To the QSXZ, she will be bringing a burlesque workshop in collaboration with ReBella Bacilla Basta that highlights burlesque as a dance and art form. Meet Stephan Wuthe – a Berlin-based shellac DJ and expert on LGBTQ+ swing history.

Music has always played a central role in his life. Over the past few decades, he has built up a vast, unique collection of historic shellac records, which he uses to DJ at festivals and swing events around the world. With over 20 years’ experience and a deep knowledge of the history of the European LGBTQ+ swing scene, he always ensures musical highlights. He will, of course, be DJing at QSXZ, but will also give a talk and host a specially planned short ‘historic social’, commenting on the tracks he plays with interesting information for the dancers and sharing his knowledge. 🎵🎧 Stay tuned!

Drag up your life with Dragqueen Vio La Cornuta! 💜🧡🩵
As a singer, door goddess, moderator and comedian, Swiss Dragqueen Vio La Cornuta is keen to draw attention to social injustices and address prejudices in an entertaining way and, in this way, broaden people’s horizons. This reflects our commitment to celebrating q***rness in all its forms and facets – whether fluid, performative or unambiguously uncompromising. Next to a Drag performance in the evening, she will also be the host of the Drag Brunch, which we organize as a special event alongside the QSXZ.

We’re thrilled to announce that Samuel Gaudó Belarre will be teaching at the QSXZ.
Samu has taught workshops in Lindy Hop, Collegiate S**g, and Balboa and is known for centering connection, communication and respect in his classes. At QSXZ, Samuel will lead workshops that emphasize musicality, partner connection, and creative exploration, helping participants deepen their movement vocabulary while maintaining a playful and inclusive learning environment.
