Supporting Asylum Seekers’ children of Zug
2. Bringing communities together

In the past years, more than 2000 children received a gift bag. Each year it needs more than 100 volunteers: tudents who prepare games, children fundraising and preparing decorations, companies donating drinks, food, fundraising and donating time to their employees to help from wrapping to help during the party, and the countless number of individuals who sponsored the children donating money or time, baking and helping. to create a memorable happy evening for the children. Our goal this year is to give away 350 gifts bags and receive 350 children's smiles in exchange! Donation are welcome through our bank account or twint account:

VOTE FOR US! ❤️

Dear friends,

Each year, seven non-profit organizations in the Canton of Zug are nominated for the «Prix Zug engagiert» 2026. This year, we have had the incredible honor of being among them — and our hearts are full of gratitude to the Canton and Benevol for this beautiful opportunity.

From today until June 14, you have the chance to support us. With just a moment of your time, you can vote for us as the best association by visiting:
www.benevolzug.ch/vote

If you live in the Canton of Zug, your voice counts. And even if you are in a neighboring canton, you can still vote if you volunteer with CommunityLinks or share a special bond with us — simply mention your connection (for example, “volunteer”) in the notes field on the voting form.

This is more than a vote. It’s a gesture of belief, a spark of encouragement, a way of saying that what we build together matters.

The final rankings will be revealed during the award ceremony on October 1, 2026, but every vote between now and then carries us forward.

If you have any questions, we are always here for you.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for walking this journey with us and for your precious support.

📦 Storage space wanted in Canton Zug!

We are looking for a small storage space in the Canton of Zug – e.g. a room or a basement – where we can store our materials throughout the year.

Every year, we collect numerous donations for children of asylum seekers and refugees. For this, we need a place where we can store toys, books, and other donated items all year round.

As we are a non-profit organization, it would be ideal if we could use the space free of charge or for a symbolic fee.

Do you have something suitable or a tip for us?
We would be very happy to hear from you!

Thank you very much for your support ❤️

🌟Meet our volunteer spotlight for March: Henriette Cataldo! 🌟

🧡 The magnificent *Henriette* has been bringing joy to CommunityLinks for many years.

You will always find her with a big smile, willing to do any job, and always dressed in a festive Christmas antlers or hat 🧡

👋 Hi, my name is Henriette. I’ve volunteered with CommunityLinks since 2019, helping out at the Asylum seekers Christmas Party. The first year I donated clementines, that was an easy way to help out, meaningful yet easy! Since then I have actually participated in prep and the event, for example setting up, welcoming guests and just helping out where an extra hand is needed.

What inspired her to get involved? She said “the first time I dropped off clementines, I could see what a big and important event it was. Giving the children a fun day with family and friends and presents and giving the parents the chance to enjoy and lean back, knowing their children have fun, is the best. It is a day where they can put the past and everyday hardship aside and enjoy a day of respite.”

When asked ‘What’s one small moment with a child or family that really stayed with you?’, she replied: “I am always so pleased to see how the children are over the moon to arrive, see friends, and receive their presents. Their smiles and twinkling eyes make it all worth it. The parents’ gratefulness speaks volumes too.”

Why does she think helping children and their families to integrate into the community matters? “Events like this help families settle into their new community, meeting helpful and welcoming volunteers helps a lot. “

Why do you volunteer with CommunityLinks?
“For me helping out is meaningful and fulfilling, being a part of something bigger and meeting other volunteers is great fun. The event itself is full on, lots of smiles and fun.”

Henriette stated that if you have thought about volunteering, this is a fun opportunity to make a difference! 💙

Freundschaft kennt keine Grenzen.

🌟 Volunteer Spotlight: Beth Bayley 🌟

Meet Beth, one of our amazing volunteers!

Beth supports our work by helping out in various tasks at the Christmas parties such as organizing our music and helping with the ‘Letters to Santa’ activity. She sometimes brings her older children to help, too! She has also helped with special projects like our coffee mornings to welcome and connect Ukrainian families.

💬 “I love seeing the guests welcomed at CommunityLinks events with the same genuine warmth and respect with which we would treat guests in our homes, and seeing the families smile and enjoy a few carefree hours with their kids.”

When asked why this work matters, Beth shared: “Everyone benefits when all residents find their place in the community.”

One reason Beth has volunteered for several years is she stated, “It’s amazing stepping into a space and finding everyone working energetically and cheerfully toward a shared purpose.”

If you are thinking about volunteering, Beth said “Don’t hesitate – you’ll be so glad you did!”

We’re so grateful for volunteers like Beth who help refugee and asylum-seeking children feel welcomed, supported, and part of our community. 💙
