After seven weeks of calling these big blue tents home, we’ve officially torn down camp at our beloved Campingplatz. Tucked under the dense pine trees and beside the clear mountain lakes, this is the place where we went from strangers to family.

From chilly early mornings climbing out of our sleeping bags to late night walks along the river, we’ve shared about life and faith and this wild journey we’re all on together. It’s a bittersweet close to this season of camp life, but we’re so grateful for heartfelt and also hilarious memories made at this place.

In the past few weeks, we’ve been diving deep into the nature and character of God, his father-heart for us, and how that shapes our own identities.

In doing the hard and heavy work of unpacking the lies we’ve believed about ourselves, it makes space to replace them with the truth of who God says we are.

Valued • Worthy • Loved

Finding the security in who He says we are, despite our struggles, setbacks & circumstances. & in that truth, comes an unexplainable freedom.

Trade in the lies for His truth.
It’s worth it every time.

Thank you so much CO Engiadina for hosting such a fun summer orienteering program!

Our ODTS team loved learning how to read the detailed Swiss topographical maps to find check points hidden deep in the forest. Every Thursday we’d explore beautiful new places in the Engadin Valley, and work as teams to uncover every orange and white flag — all the way to the finish line.

In deciding between speed and precision, getting lost in the forest while running + map reading was always a risk! But we’re happy to report that no students were permanently displaced in their attempts to navigate by compass for the first time, & we can’t wait to take part in these uorienteering events again next summer! 🧭🗺️

From the train cruising through the alps from Zurich to St. Moritz — to now being a full month in — we’ve come a long way from where we first started.

Days spent exploring mountain paths and deepening our knowledge of God’s character have led to beautiful friendships. Memories of laughter and experiences we can never recreate fill our minds. Standing atop mountains we’ve spent the whole day hiking, taking in the deep rolling valleys below, and reflecting with each other in small groups — we’ve learned so much about our faith, eachother, and ourselves.

The first month of ODTS has held the most wonderful of experiences, and we’re so very excited about what’s still to come ✨

“I only have one year left of high school before graduation, so it’s been a really cool opportunity for me to join in on this ODTS before my senior year begins. It’s been awesome spending so much time in the outdoors, and the stories shared by our speakers are just unbelievable! I’ve already learned a ton these first two weeks and been encouraged to find more space for intentional time with God.

More than anything else, I’ve been really impacted by the community here. There aren’t many Christians living in this valley, so to have other believers my age that I can do life with has been really special. Living together on the campground this summer has been so much fun – just the simplicity of all of us doing life side by side. We’ve grown so close already, and I hope these are friendships that will go even deeper as the weeks go on.

We’re here putting our focus on God and doing our best to put him first. But as we pursue Jesus more, he’s given us this amazing community of people to do life with. I’ve seen God working new beginnings through all of these incredible friendships.

I’m just really grateful for that.”

The number 8.
A symbol of new beginnings.

In Jewish culture, Sabbath rest is always recognized on the 7th day of the week, because the number seven is a symbol of perfection & completion. Matthew writes in his gospel that after the Sabbath, Jesus’ tomb was found empty. After his death on the cross — the ultimate picture of complete and perfect sacrifice — Jesus brought about a brand new order to life on earth.

New beginnings, on the 8th day.

It feels a little symbolic that this team of eight are embarking on a brand new journey together — in the year of new beginnings, no less (2+0+2+4).

Praying you recognize the new beginnings God is cultivating in your life in this season, too.

new beginnings.
In the book of Genesis, God called Abraham to go.
To leave behind all he knew, and step into the unknown. To trust in the new thing God was calling him to, even when he couldn’t see it.

With the mountainside as our classroom, we’ve been learning about what it means to take risks with God. We all have the opportunity to step out into new beginnings. To trust God’s voice and follow his leading, one small step of faith at a time.

Because little steps taken with big God will change the world.

30/11/2022, our Outdoor DTS graduated! 🎊🎊🎊

We are so incredibly proud of our dear precious students and how they have stepped out in faith, obeyed God’s voice and preserved through some tough times + made it till the end 🎉🎉🎉

What a joy and honor it has been for us staff to walk alongside them and get to pour into their lives in this time 🤍

But above all, thank you Jesus for all you have done, working in our lives, touching our hearts and teaching us so much about your heart and deep love for us + those around us.
