Discover the hidden treasures of the Mata Atlântica 🌿: The rainforest is home to countless endemic species that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. From colorful birds to unique plant species, every creature plays a crucial role in this ecosystem. Together, let's appreciate the importance of this biodiversity and stand up for its protection.

🌳Today on the International Day of Forests, we celebrate the green wonders of our planet.

🌲 Forests are not just home to countless species of flora and fauna, but they are also our allies in the fight against climate change. They store CO2, regulate the climate, protect the soil, and provide us with vital air to breathe. However, these invaluable ecosystems are under threat. Deforestation, climate change, and pollution are jeopardizing their existence and, with it, our own future.

Let's act together to protect and preserve the world's forests. Because every tree planted, every effort made towards the conservation of forests, is a step towards a more sustainable world. 🌍💚

🍃🌍 *Europe's Green Lungs: The invaluable service of our forests* 🌳💚

Europe's forests are more than just picturesque landscapes; they are vital ecosystems that play a key role in global and local environmental protection. From the Scandinavian forests to the Mediterranean, they contribute to the health of our planet in many ways.

🌲 **Carbon dioxide storage:** European forests store impressive amounts of CO2, contributing to the fight against climate change. Forests in the EU alone bind around 9.5% of total EU CO2 emissions every year!

🌳 **Biodiversity hotspots:** They are home to an enormous diversity of flora and fauna, from the rare species of the ancient beech forests in the Carpathians to the species-rich ecosystems of the Mediterranean.

💧 **Water regulation and purification:** Forests play a crucial role in regulating the water cycle, preventing erosion and filtering and purifying water.

👥 **Recreation and well-being:** They provide people with space for recreation, inspiration and physical activity, which is essential for the health and well-being of the population.

Our forests are invaluable and it is our responsibility to preserve them for future generations. By working to protect and sustainably manage forests, we not only ensure their continued existence, but also the quality of life on our planet.

Let's act together and green treasures! 🌳🌍💚

🌲 Why forests are so important🌳

Forests are the green lungs of our planet and play a crucial role in the fight against climate change. But did you know that forests also play an important role in sequestering carbon? 🌳

Photosynthesis: Trees absorb carbon dioxide from the air and convert it into oxygen and carbon through photosynthesis. This carbon is stored in biomass and in the soil.

Soil storage: The soil in forests acts as a carbon sink. Organic substances shed by trees and plants are stored in the soil and contribute to carbon sequestration.

Long-term storage: Trees can store carbon for decades or even centuries, both above and below ground. This helps to balance the carbon cycle and reduce the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

Forests are therefore essential for maintaining the ecological balance and protecting our climate. Let's work together to ensure that our forests are protected and managed sustainably! 🌍💚 sinks protection

Politics: Words must be followed by deeds!🦸🌳

Climate change is the greatest challenge of our time. The consequences are already being felt: extreme weather events, melting glaciers, rising sea levels.

Politicians have a responsibility to act. It is not enough to just pay lip service and formulate vague goals.

We need policies and people in politics, like Victor Santos , city councillor in Buzios, who turn words into action!

Trees for buzious🌳🌏🦸

The world is our home and we must protect it.

That's why we need events like Trees for Buzious.

City Councillor Victor Santos and the Office for Environmental Protection helped and made this event possible through their commitment.

The large ProOxy and Nobelwood family, who planted diligently and braved the weather, also deserve great recognition and thanks.

Nature spared the effort of carrying water and took over the watering of the seedlings itself.

Everyone can make a difference, every tree counts.

Plant trees and contribute to environmental and climate protection.
