International 3rd Vice President of Lions Clubs International

Sopot, Poland — a few inspiring days around the Lions International Board Meeting and the LCIF Trustee Meeting.

Many motivating discussions, valuable exchanges and a special fireside talk with participants from around the world.

The group photo with the European delegation — International Directors, appointees, liaisons and family members — was another reminder of the strong connections across our continent.

Moments like these show what a truly worldwide association can bring: people coming together, sharing experiences, learning from one another and creating new motivation for the work ahead.

Great to connect, exchange ideas and strengthen friendships across borders.

Now looking forward to continuing these conversations at the European Forum in Karlsruhe!

After inspiring meetings with Lions leaders and many outstanding Lions in Paris, Brussels, Utrecht and Wiesbaden, my journey continued to Malmö for the Special Olympics Sweden Invitational Games.

What an unforgettable experience! Days filled with inspiring encounters, remarkable performances and athletes whose determination, courage and joy touched everyone present.

It was especially wonderful to support the Swiss handball and football teams—and to celebrate a fantastic victory with our football team!

These Games remind us that sport is about far more than results. It builds confidence, creates friendships and brings people together across every boundary.

Congratulations to all the athletes, coaches, volunteers and supporters who made these days so special. Your energy and spirit inspire us all!

LCIF stands in solidarity with the people of Nepal.
Following the devastating natural disaster caused by a glacier collapse, landslide and flash flood, humanitarian assistance is urgently needed. Many families have lost loved ones, their homes and their livelihoods.
LCIF has approved a US$200,000 Major Catastrophe Grant, enabling Lions on the ground to provide immediate support where it is needed most. But given the scale of the disaster, further help is essential.

Through our international foundation, Lions around the world can stand together and support people facing an acute humanitarian crisis. Every donation to the Disaster Relief Fund helps provide assistance after disasters like this one.

Individual Lions and clubs can contribute, and donations are eligible for MJF and PMJF credit.

A special thank you to my home Multiple District, MD 102 Switzerland–Liechtenstein, for taking the initiative to raise funds for this urgently needed humanitarian relief.

This is Lions solidarity in action: supporting LCIF so that help can reach people in Nepal when they need it most.

Please support LCIF and the humanitarian relief efforts for the people of Nepal.

The commitment of the Lions of India is something that stays with you.

During this journey, I have already visited two eye clinics, a blood bank, an Ashram caring for children and seniors with multiple disabilities, an institute of technology, and a residence supporting children with special needs.

One moment was particularly moving: the chartering of a Leo Club made up entirely of young people with special needs. A powerful reminder that inclusion is not just something we talk about — it is something we create together.

Behind every visit are Lions who give their time, energy and care to improve lives in their communities. Different projects, different needs, but always the same spirit of service.

And there is still more to come.

The journey continues.

I had the privilege to attend a beautiful first MD102 2026-2027 Council meeting, in Aarau, launching the leadership of Council Chairperson Chris Buser and his governors.
Meeting and sharing views with my Swiss fellow Lions and good friends, as I stoped over on my way to the airport, was truly a pleasure.
My very best wishes to the team now in place, committed to continue on the successful path of the previous Council.

Now on a flight to Mumbai, to visit MD3233, service projects, cabinet installation, and meeting more outstanding and committed Lions.

This week was meant for catching up in the office — but Lions had other plans, with two or three online meetings almost every day.

Among them was a meeting with Constitutional Area Leader PID Elena and CA4 G*T Specialist Hailey Hawkins to prepare the final year of Mission 1.5.

This week also included SkillUp 4.0, Episode 74, facilitated by Lion nagaRAjU, with IPID Pankaj Mehta speaking on “Leadership Edge: Turning Insight into Action.” Episode 74 reflects the continuity of this initiative over the years.

Next week, my journey takes me to India for five days, starting in Mumbai. The following week, I will visit five Multiple Districts across Europe on my way to Malmö for the Special Olympics Invitational Games.

A busy few weeks ahead — stay tuned!

A packed and inspiring week at our Lions International Headquarters in Oak Brook!

My schedule has been filled with meetings and discussions, including the Executive Board Meeting, the LCIF Board of Trustees Meeting, and many other important conversations about the work and future of our organization.

And there was one sight that made me especially proud: the Swiss flag is now flying permanently in front of our headquarters for the next five years.

Seeing the flag of Switzerland alongside those of Lions leaders from around the world is a very special feeling for me. A small piece of home here in Oak Brook – and a wonderful reminder of where this journey began.

Proud to represent Switzerland, and even prouder to serve Lions around the world.

This week, I had the pleasure of visiting one of the Youth Exchange Camps in Multiple District 102.

Seeing so many young people from different countries learning from one another, building friendships and simply enjoying this unforgettable experience was truly inspiring. Youth Exchange is much more than a camp – it is an investment in understanding, peace and the leaders of tomorrow.

Next week marks another important milestone as I travel to Lions Clubs International Headquarters for the first time as International Third Vice President. A full week of meetings and discussions lies ahead, and I look forward to working together with colleagues from around the world as we continue to strengthen our great organization.

Together, let’s keep working for our organization. Let’s keep serving. Let’s keep making a difference.

Back home from Hong Kong and LCICon 2026, I am still processing the many impressions, unforgettable moments and wonderful encounters of these past days. I have also received hundreds of personal messages, photos and words of congratulations from Lions and friends around the world. I am deeply grateful for every single one of them.

Being elected International Third Vice President of Lions Clubs International is a great honour and a responsibility that I accept with humility, gratitude and great enthusiasm.

Hong Kong gave us many memorable moments — from taking part in the Tai Chi World Record to the first Board Meetings, where I had the honour of receiving my Certificate of Election from International President Mark Lyon.

Now the work begins. I look forward to the coming years with great energy, determination and anticipation — ready to listen, to learn, to connect Lions around the world and to serve our organisation with all my heart.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey and who continues to walk this path with me.

Yours in Lionism,
Robert

After my election as International 3rd Vice President of Lions International, I feel great joy, deep gratitude, and profound respect for the responsibility that comes with this office.

Since joining the Lions Club of Neuchâtel, I have experienced what truly defines Lions: people who take responsibility, people who serve, and people who act when help is needed.

This election is a great honour. Above all, it is a commitment. A commitment to serving Lions around the world, strengthening our global association, listening carefully, building bridges, and helping shape an organisation that remains relevant, effective, and human for generations to come.

My heartfelt thanks go to my family, my club, the Lions of Switzerland and Liechtenstein, my campaign team, and all Lions around the world who have accompanied, supported, and encouraged me on this journey.

I take this next step with confidence, humility, and great energy.

Yours in Lionism,
Robert Rettby
International 3rd Vice President
