For Glen, seeing the full picture changed everything.

Like many people, he initially saw his heart and kidney diseases as separate conditions – until he realised how closely they are linked. Seeing the bigger picture helped him better understand what was happening in his body and how to manage it.

If you’ve been diagnosed with cardiovascular disease (CVD) or chronic kidney disease (CKD), you’re not alone – and the right information can help you take control.

Check out the highlights from this year’s Cardiovascular-Kidney-Metabolic (CKM) Policy Forum, focused on addressing the disproportionate impact of CKM conditions on women’s wellness.
Convened alongside the 79th World Health Assembly, the Forum brought together patient advocates, healthcare providers, policymakers, and partners to explore how women’s wellness can better inform the CKM agenda, from earlier risk identification to more responsive, equitable, and patient-centered care across the health pathway.
The discussions reinforced a shared call to action: improving outcomes for women living with CKM conditions requires stronger collaboration, greater awareness, and health systems designed around patients lived experiences.
Thank you to all speakers, participants, and partners who contributed their voices and expertise to this important dialogue.

Today, on International Clinical Trials Day, we recognise the important role of research in improving cardiovascular care and patient outcomes. 🧪🌍

Clinical trials help shape the future of prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery — and patients play a key role in that progress.

At Mended Hearts Europe, we believe patient voices, lived experience, and accessible information are essential to more patient-centred research.

Tomorrow, the Cardiovascular-Kidney-Metabolic Policy Forum will convene in Geneva alongside the 79th World Health Assembly.

The same risk factors can affect both your heart and your kidneys.

Many of these are modifiable – which means they are things you can take steps to manage or improve – such as high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, obesity and lifestyle habits.

These risks don’t act in isolation. Over time, they can impact both your heart and your kidneys – and increase your overall risk of disease.

But the good news is: taking control of them can make a real difference.
