A Legacy That Continues to Shape Minds: In Memory of Edgar Levenson (1924–2026)
A few days ago, at the remarkable age of 101, we lost Edgar Levenson — an American psychiatrist and psychoanalyst who profoundly shaped modern psychoanalytic thought.
A leading voice in interpersonal theory, Levenson transformed the field by emphasizing the analyst’s subjectivity, the patient’s lived reality, and the central importance of the therapeutic relationship.
His influential books — The Fallacy of Understanding (1972), The Ambiguity of Change (1983), and The Stolen Self (1991) — along with numerous articles, remain foundational in psychoanalytic training worldwide.
He will be remembered for his sharp intellect, intellectual breadth, creativity, and wit, inspiring generations of clinicians and thinkers.
Today, we honor and remember his lasting contribution.

Honoring Dr. Paul Ekman with the EAAP Posthumous Award
The European Association of Applied Psychology (EAAP) honors Paul Ekman with a posthumous honorary award, recognizing his exceptional lifetime contribution to applied psychology.
Dr. Ekman, who passed away on 17 November 2025, was a pioneer in the scientific study of emotion, facial expression, and nonverbal behavior. His research on basic emotions, emotional universals, deception, and emotional regulation reshaped how psychologists understand human affect across cultures.
Through the development of the Facial Action Coding System (FACS), Dr. Ekman created a powerful bridge between laboratory science and applied psychology. This system allowed professionals from many different occupations—clinical and forensic psychology, psychotherapy, education, healthcare, security, negotiation, and organizational consulting—to apply scientifically grounded concepts of emotion in real-world settings.
His influential books, including Emotions Revealed, Telling Lies, and Unmasking the Face, as well as decades of highly cited research articles, ensured that his ideas reached both academic and applied audiences.
EAAP is honored to recognize Dr. Ekman’s enduring legacy and his unparalleled role in bringing psychological science into practice.

Soul BG receives institutional accreditation in the field of Psycho-Biology
The European Association for Applied Psychology (EAAP) is pleased to announce that Soul BG ( https://soulbg.com/ ) has been granted institutional accreditation in the field of Psycho-Biology.
Psycho-Biology represents a progressive and innovative approach within psychology, psychodiagnostics and psychotherapy. Historically, this method is associated with the conceptual framework of the "Five Biological Laws” formulated by Dr. Ryke Geerd Hamer, further developed by Dr. Claude Sabbah and his "Biologie Totale" as well as by other researchers.
The Psycho-Biological perspective explores the interaction between psychological processes, emotional responses and the biological laws derived from the embryonic development of organisms. This interaction consistently leads to a specific biological response, evolutionarily embedded in biological systems with the primary function of supporting the survival of the species.

With this accreditation, Soul BG becomes the only training institution currently authorised to deliver EAAP-accredited training programmes in Psycho-Biology and in psychodiagnostics based on the "Five Biological Laws” in the Republic of Bulgaria. This recognition underscores the institution’s commitment to a structured methodology, contemporary application and high professional standards. EAAP looks forward to a productive and future-oriented collaboration with Soul BG, supporting the continuous development and integration of innovative approaches in applied psychology across Europe.
