EDN Doula Week is over... but the work continues!

In 2025, the EDN launched an open call for Doula Solidarity and Support initiatives from across Europe to get in touch about their work promoting birth equity.

The EDN invites all doulas who work with a wide range of marginalized communities—including people of colour, with a refugee or migrant-background, LGBTQIA+ individuals, very young mothers, those living with physical and/or mental health challenges, the incarcerated, and others living in very under-resourced situations.

This is a special meeting to open further discussion in your language with other doulas and related perinatal professionals in the field of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and birth equity (midwives, doctors, researchers, etc.).

There will be a brief hello and introduction from the EDN Doula Solidarity and Support Initiative volunteers followed by:

• break out rooms (by language/country)

• feedback to main group (English)

• REPEAT x1

There is a value in keeping it simple, doing what doulas do best: connecting and supporting!

That’s a wrap of the EDN Doula Week 2026
What a week… and what a community

We’ve spent the past days exploring the 7 Shades of Doula, from presence and compassion to advocacy, strength, intuition, and continuity, and we’ve been so moved by the stories, events, conversations, and connections that unfolded along the way.

To every parent, doula, organisation, trainer, and supporter who joined an event, shared a post, commented, asked questions, or simply followed along, thank you. You helped make this week truly special.

We’d really love to hear from you now:
What did you enjoy most?
What stood out for you?
What would you love to see next time?

Drop your thoughts in the comments or send us a message.
Your feedback means so much and helps us keep growing.

Let’s keep supporting families and each other, not just this week, but always.

EDN Doula Week 2026
Day 7: Continuity
Through continuity, doulas offer consistent, reliable support
Being a familiar face.
Knowing families’ stories.
Offering ongoing care.
Continuity builds trust and helps parents feel secure throughout their journey.
Parents & doulas: Why does ongoing support matter to you?
Share your thoughts below 👇🌈

Day 6: Intuition

Today we honour intuition, trusting inner wisdom 🌿✨

Listening to your body.

Trusting your instincts.

Feeling into what feels right.

Intuition is a powerful guide.

Parents & doulas: How has intuition guided you on your journey?

EDN Doula Week 2026
Day 5: Strength

Strength isn’t always loud

Sometimes it looks like:
Resting when needed
Asking for help
Showing up again tomorrow

Both parents and doulas carry incredible strength, even on hard days

Parents & doulas: What helps you stay strong when things feel heavy?

Let’s support each other below 👇

Day 4: Advocacy

Today, we honour advocacy, standing beside, not speaking over

Advocacy is supporting voices to be heard.

Protecting autonomy.

Promoting dignity and respect.

Everyone deserves to be listened to.

Parents & doulas: When have you felt supported through advocacy?

Day 3: Knowledge
Knowledge empowers families to make informed choices.

Doulas support by sharing evidence on common procedures, benefits, risks, and alternatives in an accessible way.

Doulas empower parents to ask informed questions, reflect on their values, and make choices that feel right for them and their baby.

The doula’s role is not to decide for parents, but to support their autonomy, confidence, and informed consent throughout pregnancy, birth, and the early postnatal period, without pressure or judgement.
