Ituri: 7 dead in a deadly ADF attack in Amani-Mambasa, "the human butchery continues and has exceeded its limits"
At least seven (7) civilians were killed in an attack attributed to ADF fighters in the locality of Amani, located more than 30 kilometers west of Biakato, in the Babila Teturi grouping, in the chiefdom of the Babila Babombi, in the territory of Mambasa, in Ituri.
According to Albéric Kahundirwa, one of the chiefs based in Biakato who reported the news during a telephone interview on Saturday, August 29, 2026, the attack occurred around 4 a.m.
The attackers also burned about twenty houses, while several people are missing. The toll remains provisional, the civilian authority said, while the security situation remains worrying in several areas.
This new attack comes after those reported recently in Mabakuha and on the Biamu axis, where the toll is not yet known.
Civil society, for its part, deplores the persistence of incursions attributed to the ADF in this part of Mambasa territory and is concerned about the human butchery that continues and has exceeded its limits among the civilian population.
For Ram's Malikidogo, Coordinator of the Association for the Promotion and Defense of Women's Rights, APDEF in Mambasa, this situation requires an urgent response from the security authorities. It calls for effective measures to protect civilians and end the prolonged movement of fighters in the area.
