🤝 Strengthening Collaboration on Mental Health, Gender and Peacebuilding
The Living Peace Institute (LPI) was pleased to meet with the International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC) in Nairobi, Kenya, to initiate discussions on future collaboration across several thematic areas related to peace support operations, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), gender, masculinities, violence prevention, and peacebuilding.
The meeting provided an important opportunity to share experiences, explore areas of mutual interest, and discuss how our institutions can work together to strengthen the well-being and effectiveness of peacekeepers and other actors working in conflict and post-conflict settings.
Among the areas discussed was the possibility of jointly organizing a Roundtable on Masculinity and Mental Health, bringing together peacekeeping practitioners, researchers, gender experts, mental health professionals, and other relevant stakeholders to examine the connections between masculinities, mental health and psychosocial well-being, violence prevention, and sustainable peace.
Building on LPI's experience with gender-transformative approaches, positive masculinity, and community-based MHPSS, and IPSTC's expertise in peace support operations and training, this emerging partnership offers an exciting opportunity to generate knowledge, strengthen capacities, and contribute to healthier and more constructive approaches to masculinity within peace and security settings.
We sincerely thank IPSTC and the Commandant and HPSS team for the warm welcome, hospitality, and inspiring exchange in Nairobi.
We look forward to transforming these discussions into concrete initiatives and continuing to build a strong partnership between LPI and IPSTC.
