We are pleased to announce the official launch of the “𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗢𝗰𝗰𝘂𝗽𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗪𝗮𝗿 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗗𝗥𝗖” project.
Fully funded by the European Union in partnership with Global Youth Mobilization (an initiative of a network of six major international youth organizations that gave rise to the The Youth Empowerment Fund (SF)). This project aims to address an ecological crisis on the outskirts of Goma, particularly in the Lushagala and Sam-Sam camps, which formerly hosted thousands of war-displaced people from the and .
The prolonged occupation of these sites led to severe land degradation, accelerated deforestation, and biodiversity loss — threatening long-term food security and worsening the impacts of climate change.
Through this project, we will mitigate the environmental impact of the security crisis by restoring degraded ecosystems in these areas, which suffered from tree cutting for shelter construction and firewood.
We plan to produce approximately 10,000 seedlings, including agroforestry species (Grevillea, Markhamia lutea, Cedrela, and Cassia) and fruit trees (avocado, guava, orange, and lemon), to restore at least 10 hectares of land.
We are proud to be part of this global youth network which, beyond financial support, also provides opportunities for mentorship, coaching, and capacity building. We look forward to witnessing the positive impact this initiative will generate.

We are saddened. One of our Forgotten Parks has been attacked and 5 of its staff were killed and other held hostages. UPEMBA National Park was rising under the strong leadership of Tina Lain. NEVER AGAIN.

Amazing creature found in Congo.

A rare leucistic vervet monkey was recently captured on film in Lulimbi, in the central sector of the Park. Leucism is a genetic condition similar to albinism that reduces pigmentation in fur and skin without affecting eye color. This condition is extremely uncommon, affecting only a small fraction of primates.

Known to the Rangers and Park staff as “Prune,” this monkey has become familiar with those who care for the Park’s wildlife, highlighting both the fragility of nature and the close bonds that can form between humans and the animals they protect.

Un rare singe vervet atteint de leucisme a récemment été observé à Lulimbi, dans le secteur central du Parc. Le leucisme est une condition génétique, similaire à l’albinisme, qui réduit la pigmentation du pelage et de la peau sans affecter la couleur des yeux. Cette condition est extrêmement rare et ne concerne qu’une très petite fraction de primates.

Surnommé "Prune" par les écogardes et le personnel du Parc, ce singe s’est familiarisé avec ceux qui veillent sur la faune du Parc, rappelant à la fois la fragilité de la nature et les liens étroits qui peuvent se tisser entre l’homme et les animaux qu’il protège.

After heavy snow ❄️ in Madoyama, Japan, the cultural season has started and our trainee Séraphin has started cleaning and preparing the land to receive new seeds.

Our trainees (Brenda and Seraphin) will complete their one-year training in march 2026 in Japan.
