🇨🇩 – For Enhanced Transparency Regarding the Mining Agreement with the United States

The natural resources of the Democratic Republic of the Congo represent a strategic national heritage that determines the future of both present and future generations.

Any mining agreement involving international partners, including the United States, must strictly adhere to the principles of transparency, national sovereignty, and equitable benefit for the Congolese population.

In this spirit, we express our concerns regarding the terms and implications of this agreement. It is essential that:

– The full terms of the agreement be made public
– An inclusive national debate be organized
– Parliament fully exercise its oversight role
– An independent assessment evaluate the economic, social, and environmental impact

If these guarantees are not ensured, a thorough review of the agreement would be necessary in the supreme interest of the nation.

Our position is not opposed to international partnerships. On the contrary, we believe in balanced and mutually beneficial cooperation. However, any collaboration must primarily serve the sustainable development of the DRC and deliver tangible improvements to the living conditions of its people.

Sovereignty over natural resources remains a fundamental and non-negotiable principle.

We call for constructive, transparent, and responsible dialogue to ensure that the country’s wealth fully contributes to its development.

On 22 March 2026, Fridays for Future Minova, in collaboration with New Hope for Poor – DRC, invites all students, youth, and climate activists in Minova and Kivu to march for the protection of our forests.

The forests of Eastern DRC face destruction from:
❌ Illegal logging
❌ Armed conflicts and resource plundering
❌ Corruption and impunity
❌ Loss of biodiversity

🌍 Forests are our life, our climate shield, and our community’s future. Protecting them is protecting our tomorrow.

Urgent Fundraiser: Support Schooling for Children Affected by Floods and War in Goma and Minova, DRC

The eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is facing a severe humanitarian crisis impacting thousands of children. In Goma and Minova, many children are orphans, displaced, or victims of recent devastating floods, on top of ongoing armed conflict in the region.

These children, who have already lost so much, now risk losing their future without access to education.

The prolonged war has destroyed families and weakened communities. Recent floods have worsened the situation by destroying homes, schools, and essential belongings. Many children are left homeless, vulnerable, and unable to continue their studies.

Education is the key to restoring hope, rebuilding dignity, and ensuring a better future for peace and stability in the region.

🌿✨ Women & Youth Healing Gardens for Nutrition and Peace – Minova

In Minova, our communities face hunger, trauma, and environmental destruction. Fridays for Future Minova is launching Healing Gardens to empower women and youth with food security, mental wellbeing, and peacebuilding skills.

🪴 What will we do? ✅ Create community healing gardens with vegetables, medicinal herbs, and indigenous trees
✅ Train women and youth in organic gardening, nutrition, and trauma-informed peacebuilding
✅ Organise healing activities with art, music, and storytelling
✅ Improve nutrition for families while building climate resilience and peace
