Honouring Our Relatives: MMIWG2S+ Information Session with Aboriginal Alert
The Town of Devon, in partnership with Aboriginal Alert, invites all community members to a drop-in information session on Monday, May 5, in observance of Red Dress Day.
This session is dedicated to raising awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives (MMIR). It provides a safe space for residents to learn about the Aboriginal Alert website - a tool designed to bridge the gap in communication and public notification when Indigenous people go missing.
Why Attend?
Education: Learn about the systemic issues surrounding the MMIWG2S+ crisis.
Empowerment: Understand how the Aboriginal Alert system works and how you can support it.
Community: Stand in solidarity with families and survivors.
Event Details:
Date: Tuesday, May 5, 2026
Time: 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM (Drop-in format)
Location: Devon Public Library (101 - 17 Athabasca Ave)
Cost: Free to attend
We encourage all attendees to wear red as a symbol of remembrance and a call for justice. Together, we can work toward a safer, more informed, and supportive community for our Indigenous neighbors and relatives.
