TOMORROW NIGHT (Tuesday), we’re creating a little space for everyone. 🌈

On September 29, our Parent Support Circle will be happening alongside our Craft & Movie Night, giving parents and caregivers a chance to connect, ask questions, share experiences, and talk about supporting their 2SLGBTQIA+ youth as they navigate school in Alberta.

While the adults gather for conversation and support, youth can spend the evening crafting, watching a movie, and connecting with others in a fun and welcoming space. 🎨🍿

It’s an opportunity for parents to have meaningful conversations without having to worry about finding something for their kids to do — and for youth to have a space of their own, too.

Whether you have questions, experiences to share, or simply want to connect with other families, you’re welcome to join us.

🎶 Music Monday: CMAT 🇮🇪

This week, we’re spotlighting CMAT, the Irish singer-songwriter serving up big feelings, sharp humour, country-pop drama, and songs that somehow make heartbreak feel fun.

Openly bisexual and beloved by a huge LGBTQ+ fanbase, CMAT has proudly embraced her connection to the q***r community — and once summed up her audience pretty perfectly by saying she makes music “for the girls and the gays.”

If you like clever lyrics, a little theatrical flair, and songs you can cry and dance to at the same time, CMAT is absolutely worth a listen.

🎨 Craft & Movie Night is back! 🎬✨

Join us on September 29 for a relaxed evening of crafting, community, and a little Fantastic Mr. Fox! 🦊🍂

Bring whatever you’re working on — knitting, crochet, drawing, colouring, embroidery, or that project that’s been sitting unfinished for way too long. You’re also welcome to bring your dinner or some snacks and settle in for the evening.

Don’t have a project? No worries! We’ll have some craft supplies available to help you get creative.

"QT Pie Shyne emerged on the drag scene six years ago in High River Alberta. In addition to performing at The Venue, she has done Reading with Royalty at the High River Library and also performs at the High River United Church. QT Pie Shyne is a fem queen but she is always evolving her style and trying new things. QT Pie Shyne has joined a Drag Group Electric Stage Series and the Shyne Dynasty. She has done a ton of amazing
shows performing including the largest Pride show in Calgary and doing many shows at Kensington Legion. She also had the amazing opportunity to perform along with Pythia From Ru Paul Canada Drag Race Season 2. But no matter how big she grows she can not forget
where she started. She is so excited to be back on The Venue stage for her sixth year. She is happy to perform for High River again and hopes you have a spectacular time."

This week, we’re spotlighting Toronto’s own The Beaches — an indie rock band known for big hooks, sharp lyrics, and songs that are very easy to get stuck in your head.

Q***r identity and relationships have also become a meaningful part of their music, with band members openly sharing their own experiences and bringing those stories naturally into their songwriting.

If you like catchy indie rock with a little attitude, this one’s for you.

Every second Monday, we’ll spotlight a musician, share a little about who they are, where they’re from, what they sound like, who you might already love if you’re into their music, and a song to start with. It’s all about discovering new music, celebrating q***r voices, and sharing the artists who help make our community feel seen, heard, and a little more connected. Keep an eye out starting next week for your next favourite artist. 🎶🏳️‍🌈

As a new school year approaches, it can bring a lot of questions, worries, and big feelings — for kids and for parents. 🏳️‍🌈💛

Our upcoming Parent Support Circle is a drop-in, peer-to-peer space for parents and caregivers of gender-diverse and 2SLGBTQIA+ youth to connect, share experiences, and exchange resources as we head into the school year in Alberta.

This is not a facilitated or structured session — just an open opportunity to meet other parents, talk through what’s coming up, and share ideas, information, and support with one another.

Whether you’re wondering how to advocate for your child at school, navigating conversations with teachers and administrators, or simply looking to connect with other parents who understand, you’re welcome here.

Come as you are, stay for as long as you’re able, and join in the conversation in whatever way feels comfortable for you.

Okay, okay... we know we're fashionably late with this post. 😅 June came and went in a blur of Pride events, and somehow this one never made it onto our feed. Better late than never!

What a beautiful day it was. 🌈💜

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for Picnic with Pride in George Lane Park on June 6th! From the incredible performers and amazing local vendors to every person who came out to connect, celebrate, and simply be together—you made the day truly special.

Events like this remind us just how powerful community can be. Seeing people laughing, making new friends, supporting local businesses, and celebrating Pride together is exactly why we do what we do.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the day a success. We couldn't have done it without our volunteers, partners, performers, vendors, and every single attendee.

We’re already looking forward to doing it all again next year. See you at Picnic with Pride 2027! 🏳️‍🌈✨
