As we go into our final week before show, we'd like to start introducing our team!
Meet Dar Uy (@.uy), Cal St. Onge, and Sam Cheng ()! The Director, Stage Manager, and Lighting Designer of MIZUHIKI, running September 11-20th at the Vancouver Fringe Festival ()!
Dar is a director from the Philippines who moved to Vancouver in 2022. He trained at Ateneo de Manila University’s Fine Arts Department. Selected directing credits include Kenneth Seto Tynan’s Qi Pao (Vancouver Fringe 2024), Ateneo blueREP’s Next to Normal (2020) and Spring Awakening (2019). He is also a game designer and improviser, performing with local improv group Fistful of Kicks.
Cal is an Edmonton Fringe veteran, having worked on productions such as "Bluebirds"(2019), "Conventional Musical"(2017) and "Zoo Story"( 2019). They're excited to have been recruited out of early retirement for this original work and to make their Vancouver debut with Midtwenties Productions. They hope you enjoy the show!
Originally from Hong Kong, Sam Cheng is a graduate from UBC Theatre Design and Production, specializing in Scenic and Lighting Design, and Technical Direction. She is fascinated with creating stories influenced by people and how they interact with the world around them. Select credits include: Metamorphoses (United Players of Vancouver), Through A Film Darkly (Akofena Afro-Theatre Society), and The Last of the Pelican Daughters (UBC Theatre) as Lighting Designer, The Very Book Indeed (UBC Theatre) as Set Designer, Chickens (United Players of Vancouver) as Associate Set Designer, and The Watsons (Vital Spark Theatre) as Technical Director.
