Have your say! The NWT Art Centre Initiative is exploring a major public art gallery and community space in the Northwest Territories. Its future depends on community support. We want to hear from artists, arts organizations, and community members across the territory.

Please share your thoughts in our short survey by October 19th!

Last week we gathered at the former location of Akaitcho Hall to bless the Land. As you can see, it was a special day with music, prayers, dancing, sharing experiences of Akaitcho Hall, and spending time together. Mahsi cho to all who joined! Mahsi cho to all those who made it happen.

“Yellowknife is a wonderfully eccentric place to live, providing so much grist for the creative mill, despite the fact—or maybe because of the fact—that it’s so far away from the art world’s centres of power.” Sarah Swan wrote for Maisonneuve (Different Strokes, 2022)

Sarah is a Yellowknife-based curator and art writer whose bylines include Galleries West, Studio Magazine, Maisonneuve and the Winnipeg Free Press. Sarah will be moderating the October 15th election forum, pitching questions to candidates about art and culture in Yellowknife.
