Amazing bunch of volunteers from CASARA_National, and a wonderful representation of our Yarmouth Zone, Nova Scotia and the Maritimes!
🌊✈️🇨🇦

This year marks 40 years of service, dedication, and volunteer excellence for the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association (CASARA)! ✈️🇨🇦

We were proud to gather in Winnipeg — home of the CASARA National Office — to celebrate four decades of supporting Canada’s Search and Rescue Program and promoting SAR awareness from coast to coast. Since 1986, CASARA volunteers have been on call 24/7, assisting in searches for missing aircraft, supporting humanitarian missions, advancing aviation safety, and helping save lives across our vast Canadian landscape.

From pilots and spotters to navigators, drone teams, and ground crews, CASARA members continue to embody our motto: “That Others May Live.”

As we celebrate this incredible milestone, we thank every volunteer, partner, supporter, and member organization who has contributed to our mission over the past 40 years. Here’s to the memories, the friendships, the training, the teamwork — and the future of Search and Rescue in Canada.

For anyone in the Digby area, be aware that there will be exercises taking place the week of April 20-24.

Emergency Response Team (ERT) members will be conducting planned training exercises this week in Digby, including in the ferry terminal and on board the Digby–Saint John ferry.

The training will include ERT Marine Operations teams, Atlantic Region Air Services, and a Black Hawk helicopter. As part of the training exercise, residents and ferry passengers may notice an increased police presence on the ferry and on land, along with coordinated activity on the water and in the air.

These exercises are carefully planned and carried out with public and officer safety as the top priority. While there is no anticipated impact to the public, residents may notice an increase in noise during scheduled training periods.

We appreciate the public’s understanding as we conduct this important training to ensure ERT members remain ready to protect our communities, now and in the future.
