Parents, Families, and Friends of Le****ns and G**s began over 50 years ago in the United States to meet the needs of the people who support their children and loved ones. It is a LGBTQ advocacy organization founded and led by friends and family of LGBTQ people.

In Canada, PFLAG has been active for 20 years and pflag Western Valley NB is one of the dozens and dozens of chapters here in Canada.

As a new chapter our direction and programs will be a reflection of what the community, the parents, family and friends, need to provide greater advocacy and better inclusion. This network will provide peer support, education and advocacy for a Canada that affirms respects and values all sexualities, genders and gender expressions.

Our intention with this meeting is to let the community know who we are, what we hope to do, and to find volunteer like minded families and friends to create and lead the chapter so we can all help to build resiliency not just within our community by supporting our 2SLGBTQIA+ loved ones, but the greater community.

Please register to attend our meeting with other like minded friends and family!

🌈 Shelburne Pride March – Small but Mighty! 🌈

Today, I had the absolute joy of attending a Pride March in Shelburne – a powerful and heartfelt event that may have been small in size, but was huge in spirit and impact.

This celebration of love and identity began as a student-led initiative by the incredible SRHS GSA. Their passion and perseverance pushed through red tape and helped bring this vision to life. I want to give special credit to Sela Graham, the student lead of the SRHS GSA, for their creativity, leadership, and determination.

Thank you to Our House Youth Wellness and Schools Plus for joining in to help make this dream a reality. It truly became a collaborative community effort, and it showed.

I’d also like to recognize and thank:
💛 Warden Penny Smith – Municipality of Shelburne
💙 Deputy Warden Cynthia Bazinet – Municipality of Barrington
💚 Mimi Champagne, on behalf of Val Cox – SCYHSA, Our House Youth Wellness Board of Directors

Wishing this incredible team and all participants the very best on your ongoing journeys. I can’t wait until we gather again to celebrate Pride in all its vibrant glory. 🌟

If any names were mis-named or misspelled, please accept my sincere apologies. 💖

pflag Canada supports the Canadian Medical Association's legal challenge to the Government of Alberta's Bill 26 which bans gender affirming care for those under 18. Healthcare decisions should be made by patients, their families and healthcare professionals, not politicians. We agree the CMA, Bill 26 is " an historic and unprecedented government intrusion into the physician-patient relationship and requires doctors to follow the law rather than clinical guidelines, the needs of patients and their own conscience“

What’s on my mind? It’s Pride month… a great time to replace judgment with learning and understanding.

In September 2022, a historic change replaced these harmful bans with sexual behaviour-based screening, treating all donors equally. Start your year informed and empowered—be part of this inclusive new chapter in blood donation. Did you know? All blood donations are tested for infections like HIV and Hepatitis C. While no test is perfect, updated screening helps ensure safety and inclusivity for donors and recipients alike.

Inclusion matters. Donating blood isn’t just about saving lives—it’s about showing that everyone’s contribution is valued.

"Progress through action. Inclusion through giving."

--------------------
