We are very sad to share that we have had to cancel the Manitoba Deaf Expo for 2026.

This was not an easy decision, and we truly thank everyone for your understanding and support.

Looking ahead, we are looking for someone interested in becoming the Chairperson for the Manitoba Deaf Expo next year. If you enjoy working with the community and helping plan events, we would love to hear from you!

Please feel free to message Kayle Miller or email [email protected] if you are interested or would like more information.

Thank you to our amazing Deaf community for always supporting us

Event Description:
🌱 What happens when a child’s brain doesn’t get language in time?
Imagine a garden that never got water when it needed it most.

That’s what language deprivation looks like — and it’s entirely preventable.

This video explains language deprivation in a simple, powerful way and why early access to ASL is not optional — it’s essential for healthy brain development, emotional regulation, and lifelong learning.

This isn’t about deafness.

It’s about language access and human rights.

📍 If you care about Deaf children in Manitoba — whether you’re Deaf, a parent, a professional, or an ally — this conversation matters.

👉 Join us at the Deaf-led Town Hall
🗓 Sunday, Feb 1, 2026 | 10 AM – 12 PM
📍 Deaf Centre Manitoba – 285 Pembina Hwy
☕ Light snacks provided

Let’s come together to protect our children’s language rights and prevent language deprivation — before it’s too late.

This event will be interpreted. Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and hearing parents/guardians of D/HH children are welcome, as well as ASL interpreters and community members.

Thank you for helping us share this important event.

Sincerely,
Manitoba Deaf Community
