Exciting news! The Environmental Bundle Program is back for another round after being sold out so quickly.

The Northeast Red Watershed District is offering a subsidized environmental product bundle to landowners within the district.

All bundles include a bee house, bat house and rain gauge. You then get to choose between a rain barrel, a compost bin, or both!

If you choose one of either a rain barrel or compost bin the subsidy is $50.
If you choose both the rain barrel and compost bin the subsidy is $100.

There is limited products available every year so apply quickly!

The NRWD is offering the WASP Wildfire Protection Kits at a subsidized rate of $75! The regular rate is $250+

The WASP Wildfire Sprinkler systems are designed to protect your home from floating embers from wildfires. The system gets water onto the roof and surrounding area of your home to put the embers out.

Included in this kit are:

2 gutter mount sprinkler brackets
2 agricultural grade, wind fighting sprinkler heads
2 facia/fence brackets for homes and structures without gutters
2 fire department grade 25 foot lay-flat hoses with standard connectors

With the heavy rain and overland flooding experienced last week, there is an increased risk to landowners who rely on well water for drinking water. The Northeast Red Watershed District is partnering with the Office of Drinking Water and Duracan Ltd. to offer landowners affected by overland flooding free water testing for Bacteria and E. Coli.

What an intense week for precipitation! This week has showcased just how important water management is for communities. Even at small scales water management is crucial.

A great example is our Rain Garden Program. The NRWD office has recently built our own rain garden. We love how beautiful and functional the garden is. Full of perennial plants including culvers root, yarrow, sage and more! It has effectively captured our downspout runoff from this intense week of rain.

The NRWD funds 75% of the cost of a rain garden, up to a maximum of $750 on a residential property and $2500 on a public property.
