We often hear from parents who feel that the ‘fun’ is missing from breastfeeding- those times where you feel like you’re doing so many things to feed your baby that it’s feeling like a full-time job, and that you’re just a “milk machine”. Breast/chestfeeding, a vigorous pumping schedule, preparing and feeding bottles- it can be overwhelming! As parents ourselves, we have been there too- and we want to gently remind anyone that needs to hear it today that you are SO much more than just a meal 🥹 Your baby is benefitting from every drop of your milk, every quiet snuggle as you feed them, and every little connection you make.
When feeding feels overwhelming, we remind you to go back to basics- take a break, and enjoy some skin to skin time with your baby. Your breast/chest is a happy place to be at all times- not just for feeding. Every cuddle you have together trades smells and stimulates hormones that signal your body to make milk and help the feeding process along.
So sit back, have a cuddle, and take a breath. You’re doing a great job!
If you’d like to connect with a mentor about your feeding questions, we are happy to support you ❤️
