This is incredibly difficult to write. Michele was Hazel's speech therapist when she was 8 weeks old. She was one of the first faces we saw when we entered into this Down syndrome community. We had so much to learn and experience at that point and Michele was always kind, patient, and SO knowledgeable. You could always tell that her work was her passion.
In 2019, Hazel was discharged from her service and we started talking about what this community needed - CHF speech groups were born. It was somewhere in between a labour of love and a dream for both of us. We worked REALLY hard together to create the program that is still running today. Michele went on to train Amanda Filbey and create Evolve Speech Therapy who are now still continuing to bring this service to the Down syndrome community.
Michele you were committed to your clients beyond what was required or expected (she will love that word). Your impact on our lives and the DS community will never be forgotten, we will carry out your legacy for years to come through helping those CHF families.
