is a Canada Prenatal Nutrition Program (CPNP) offered in Windsor and Essex County funded by Health Canada since 1996. BBBB is a comprehensive, community based program that supports pregnant women who face conditions that threaten their health and the development of their babies. The program is designed to provide nutrition support and health education to pregnant women who face challenging circumstances that put their health and the health of their infants at risk. Challenging circumstances include poverty, poor nutrition, teen pregnancy, social and geographic isolation, recent arrival to Canada, substance abuse and family violence. Women who attend the program during their pregnancy are provided with postnatal support until their baby is 4-6 months of age. Participants attend FREE weekly classes conducted by Registered Dietitians and Public Health Nurses, and receive food gift certificates, vitamin vouchers and a nutritious snack. BBBB also provides a prenatal fitness program and an early literacy program is available for preschool children attending with their mother.
