As we move into February, we want to pause and say thank you.

To every Team Lead who brought the Canadian Walk for Veterans to life in 2025—your leadership, commitment, and heart made a national impact. Because of you, communities across Canada came together to honour Veterans and support their well-being.

As we look ahead to 2026, the momentum is already building. Planning is underway, fundraising pages are being prepared earlier than ever, and work has begun on new resources, a new theme, and the 2026 commemorative coin.

Now, we’re inviting Team Leads—returning and new—to join us.

If you’re passionate about honouring Veterans, bringing your community together, and being part of a meaningful national movement, we would love to walk with you.

Save the dates: September 26 & 27, 2026

Whether you’ve led a walk before or are considering stepping into the role for the first time, your leadership matters—and we’re here to support you every step of the way.

Gunner Sebastian Halmagean, a Canadian Armed Forces member deployed on Operation REASSURANCE in Latvia and who was employed by the Canadian-led NATO Multinational Brigade Latvia, died at Camp Labrie on Ceri Military base, on January 29, 2026.

The circumstances surrounding Gunner Halmagean’s death is currently under investigation by the Canadian Forces Military Police with support from Latvian State Police, and no further information will be provided. At this time, there is no indication this incident poses an increased threat to the safety and security of our deployed members.

Gunner Halmagean was originally from Hamilton, Ontario, and was posted to the 4th Artillery Regiment (General Support), Royal Canadian Artillery, part of 6 Canadian Combat Support Brigade, which is based at 5th Canadian Division Support Base Gagetown in Oromocto, New Brunswick.

Gunner Halmagean was deployed on Operation REASSURANCE as part of the Air Defence Battery within the Multinational Artillery Battalion Group at NATO Multinational Brigade Latvia. He had served in the Canadian Armed Forces for nearly three years. This was his first overseas deployment.

Together, we walked for our military community. And together, we’re moving forward.

Because of communities across the country stepping up — walking, fundraising, volunteering, and sharing — the Canadian Walk for Veterans continues to grow its impact year after year.

In 2025, your support helped strengthen peer support, trauma-informed care, and community-based programs that Veterans and their families rely on. Every step taken was a statement of gratitude, remembrance, and commitment to those who serve and have served.

As we look ahead to 2026, we’re building on this momentum — expanding participation coast to coast, deepening national partnerships, and ensuring that funds raised continue to reach where they matter most.

Thank you to every walker, donor, sponsor, and volunteer who made this impact possible.
Planning for 2026 is already underway — and we can’t wait to walk alongside you again!
Save the Date: September 26 & 27 weekend

Happy New Year!

A heartfelt thank you to the White Rock Chapter of C.A.R.P. (Canadian Association of Retired Persons) – Chapter 11!

We were honoured to receive a generous donation in support of the 2025 White Rock True Patriot Love Canadian Walk For Veterans. This contribution was inspired by the powerful keynote address delivered by Dr. Matthew Kane at the CARP Remembrance Day ceremony—his message clearly resonated, motivating attendees to give back to those who have served.

Members of the CARP board presented the cheque, at the White Rock Cenotaph, which was gratefully accepted on behalf of True Patriot Love and the Canadian Walk for Veterans by Dr. Matthew Kane, City Councillor Anthony Manning, and Marc Burchell.
