🍽️ WHISTLER ROCKS DINNER IS BACK! 🍽️

We’re gathering around the table again Monday, September 14 and according to the internet, we’re serving the ultimate culinary plot twist. 👀

✨ CHICKEN MARBELLA ✨

A retro 1980s party classic that sounds a little wild on paper… but tastes like absolute magic.

Tender chicken meets briny olives, salty capers, dates, onions and garlic, creating that perfect sweet, salty, tangy, savoury combination that somehow just WORKS.

Served with za’atar roasted potatoes + fresh garden salad.

🌱 VEGGIE OPTION:
Roasted Marbella Squash with all the delicious sides.

WE’VE GOT SOME BIG NEWS. ❤️

Last night, we asked the 100 Men Who Care Whistler to help us expand our capacity to serve 100+ hot meals at a time.

And they said YES!

We are incredibly grateful to receive $16,337, which will go directly toward the catering and hot-holding equipment we need to prepare, transport, hold, and serve hot food safely and efficiently.

Think commercial hot-holding equipment, Cambro food transport containers, hotel pans, rolling racks, sheet pans, and large-volume cooking equipment.

These may not be the most exciting things to look at, but they are what will allow us to turn our kitchen into the capacity to produce and serve 100+ hot meals at a time.

And importantly, this equipment isn’t just about making our current dinners easier.

It allows us to build on what we’re already doing.

With proper hot-food transportation and holding equipment, we can prepare food in a dedicated kitchen and safely move it to different locations around Whistler.

That opens up a whole new world of possibilities.

And we couldn’t be more grateful to the 100 Men who chose to invest in this next chapter of ROCKS.

We also want to celebrate the two incredible organizations who shared the stage with us last night:

Whistler Waldorf School — who are about to break ground on their new school site and are now just over $1M away from their fundraising goal.

MountainMuskox — who run circles of support for people impacted by loss or trauma in the mountains. They are looking for funding that will continue to support counsellors and the spaces where these important circles take place.

Three very different organizations. Three very different needs. But one very Whistler thing in common:

Community.

Thank You, Whistler ❤️

What a meal! On August 17, we served 69 guests with the help of 20 incredible volunteers, for a total of 89 meals served, bringing our grand total to 1,561 meals served! 🙌

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this dinner possible:

🥟 BBQ Bob for the succulent, delicious pork
🥗 Pemberton Stewardship Society for the incredibly fresh vegetables
🥬 A delicious Asian-inspired dressing, plus sweet potatoes and black beans, made this one seriously nutritious meal with 7 different vegetables!
🥟 Chris at Four Seasons for sourcing the steamed buns (and for helping us figure out how on earth to steam them!) they were a huge hit.
🥛Reuse Whistler for all reusable drink cups

And, as always, thank you to our amazing volunteers. ROCKS simply wouldn’t happen without you. ❤️

We shared some VERY exciting news earlier this week to our those on our newsletter....

We’ve received an incredible $225,000 private donation that is going to help take Whistler ROCKS to our next step. We’re incredibly grateful and excited about what this means for the future of ROCKS. Stay tuned! 👀

🌮 Taco Night was one of our best yet! 💙

Despite the hot, smoky summer evening, we welcomed an incredible 91 guests with the help of 19 amazing volunteers, serving a total of 110 meals. It was wonderful to see so many new faces, and even better to watch everyone linger, connect, and enjoy dinner together. That’s exactly what Whistler ROCKS is all about.

This meal was proudly sponsored by the Whistler Community Foundation, and we are so grateful for their support in helping us bring people together around a nutritious meal.

A very special thank you to Laurence, who went above and beyond by baking 100 homemade fruit pies. They were an absolute hit! 🥧

Huge appreciation as well to Leana for once again leading the kitchen with an incredible volunteer team, and to Rosie and her grandchildren for creating such a warm and welcoming dining room. The beautiful flowers brightened the space and even helped guide guests to our alternate entrance.

As always, we’re so grateful for the support of Slope Side Supply, Four Seasons, and Whistler Reusable Cups for helping make these dinners possible.

This dinner was also a bittersweet one as we said goodbye to two of our original ROCKStar volunteers. Ferlly is heading home to Chile, and Arlo is off to Australia.

From the very beginning, you both have shown up with kindness, positivity, and an incredible work ethic. You’ve helped build not just our dinners, but the welcoming community that makes ROCKS so special. Thank you for everything you’ve given, we’ll miss you both and wish you all the best on your next adventures. 💙
