From now until the fest, participants will connect with fellow filmmakers, engage with a featured industry guest, and build relationships within a supportive peer community designed to foster collaboration and visibility across the Canadian screen industry.

“[The 2020 WFF Indigenous Filmmaker Fellowship] helped launch my mini-series "Shadow of the Rougarou" on APTN. It also laid the groundwork for my growth as a writer, giving me the skills and confidence to pursue new projects and opportunities.”

⭐️ 🎬️ Jordan Waunch is an award-winning Métis writer, director, and producer based in the Coast Salish territories.

His work spans film, television, animation, and XR media, with a focus on Indigenous-led, culturally grounded storytelling.

His mini-series, "Shadow of the Rougarou," recently made history as the first Métis production credited with Michif as a title language on IMDb after a campaign led by Jordan and his team, with guidance from Elders Stella Erasmus-Johnson and Bruce Dumont.

Jordan is currently developing "The Buffalo Hunter," a feature exploring home and belonging, and "Hyperia," a gritty 'Natives in Space' sci-fi epic he brought to Sundance.

Jordan also worked on the producing team of Marie Clements’ "How We Stand" and recently secured development funding for "If the World Should Break," a project he co-wrote and pitched alongside fellow WFF alum Shaelyn Johnston at the 2024 WFF Power Pitch.

Meet WFF's Doc Lab facilitator and mentor – Lynn Booth!

"I'm grateful to be part of the mentoring team committed to helping our filmmakers connect with financing partners, gain market insights and advance their projects during the festival and beyond. For me, Whistler Film Festival is an energizing experience - and the Doc Lab is the kind of support that takes it to the next level."

After graduating from UBC’s nonfiction creative writing program in 1994, Lynn Booth began her career in documentary filmmaking with films about midwifery care, William Shatner and David Suzuki.

She launched Make Believe Media in 1999 and has produced more than 100 hours of programming, including broadcast series, one-off television programs and documentary features.

⭐️ 🎬️ Kate Green is an award-winning director who works across comedy, science fiction, and genre storytelling for both film and television. Kate completed the Whistler Film Festival Producers Lab in 2022 with her project "Maybe This Christmas" and noted that the support she received through the program "meant the world" and provided a strong foundation for her career.

She has since produced her first feature documentary, "Menopause: Coming in Hot," which premiered at Whistler Film Festival in 2025.

Kate is also the creator of the sci-fi short form series "NarcoLeap," which earned multiple nominations for Canadian Screen Awards, the Writers’ Guild of Canada, and Leo Awards after premiering on TELUS Optik TV and CBC Gem. The show went on to receive international awards for Best Web Series and cast performances.

Recently, Kate announced the exciting news that she produced the comedy series "One Baby, Please!" airing on OutTV this November 2, and directed two of the episodes. She's also received IPF development funding for an upcoming Horror anthology series, "Reel Scared," by Alex Vance and Helene Taylor.
