SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

On behalf of the Wetaskiwin Multicultural Heritage Festival, Wetaskiwin Literacy & Wellness Services Ltd.and the Wetaskiwin Filipino Community Foundation-Canada management, staff and volunteers, we extend our deepest and most heartfelt appreciation to Edmonton International Raceway management for giving us the incredible opportunity to raise funds through our 50/50 Raffle during the NASCAR NAPA 300 in preparation for the 2027 Wetaskiwin Multicultural Heritage Festival.

We truly enjoyed volunteering throughout the day and connecting with so many wonderful people while selling 50/50 raffle tickets in the afternoon. Every ticket purchased brings us one step closer to delivering another successful Heritage Festival that celebrates diversity, unity, and the rich cultures that make our community so special.

A HEARTFELT MESSAGE OF GRATITUDE!!!

On behalf of the Wetaskiwin Multicultural Heritage Festival Committee, I sincerely extend my deepest gratitude to the residents of WETASKIWIN and neighboring communities, the Festival Directors from Wetaskiwin Literacy & Wellness Services Ltd. and the Wetaskiwin Filipino Community Foundation-Canada, our DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS AND STAFF, vendors, performers, guests, and visitors who made this year’s festival another remarkable success.

We would like to express our special appreciation to the Mayor, City Council, with Councillor Dean Billingsly who volunteered tirelessly since day one till the end, with the presence of our City Mayor Joe Branco, Councillors Mark Elder, Wendy Hoyle, and Wayne Neilson and Administration of the City of Wetaskiwin, and Chief Izaiah Swampy-Omeasoo of the Samson Cree Nation in Maskwacis for their unwavering support, partnership, and commitment to celebrating diversity and community spirit. Your encouragement and assistance continue to play a vital role in the growth and success of this ANNUAL FESTIVAL.

Despite the challenges brought by unfavorable weather, which resulted in an early closure on the last day of the festival, we once again made HISTORY!

Together, we demonstrated the RESILIENCE, UNITY, and STRENGTH of our community. Over a THOUSAND of people came together to celebrate the rich cultures, traditions, and heritage that make the City of Wetaskiwin such a VIBRANT and WELCOMING PLACE TO LIVE.

The Wetaskiwin Multicultural Heritage Festival is more than an event, it is a reflection of who we are as a community.
It showcases our shared VALUES of INCLUSION, RESPECT, FRIENDSHIP, and UNDERSTANDING. Through music, dance, food, art, and cultural exchange, we strengthened connections and created lasting memories for people of all ages and backgrounds.

To every volunteer who gave their time, every sponsor who believed in our vision, every vendor and performer who shared their talents, and every visitor who attended and celebrated with us, THANK YOU SO MUCH. Your participation and support helped make this festival an unforgettable experience.

As we REFLECT on another successful year, we are INSPIRED by what we have accomplished together and look forward to building an even GREATER FESTIVAL in the years ahead. Thank you for helping us celebrate the beautiful diversity of Wetaskiwin and for proving once again that when we come together, we create something truly extraordinary.

IMPORTANT FESTIVAL CANCELLATION NOTICE

Wetaskiwin Multicultural Heritage Festival – June 21

To all vendors, suppliers, performers, volunteers, spectators, guests, and community members:

Due to persistent heavy rainfall, unsafe weather conditions, and the continued forecast of severe weather throughout June 21, the Wetaskiwin Multicultural Heritage Festival has been officially cancelled for the entire day.

This decision was not made lightly. The safety and well-being of our vendors, suppliers, performers, volunteers, attendees, and staff remain our highest priority. Current weather conditions create significant safety concerns and make it impossible to safely operate the festival as planned.

We sincerely apologize for the disappointment and inconvenience this cancellation may cause. We greatly appreciate the understanding, support, and cooperation of everyone involved.

All vendors, suppliers, and participants are requested not to proceed to the festival site unless specifically contacted by event organizers regarding equipment retrieval or other arrangements.

Thank you for your continued support of the Wetaskiwin Multicultural Heritage Festival. We look forward to celebrating together at future events under safer conditions.
